Two students are recovering after they were stabbed during a fight that broke out inside a Maryland high school. During a press conference Wednesday, Anna Arundel County Police Department Chief Jackie Davis said Annapolis High School was on lockdown Wednesday following multiple serious assaults inside the building.

According to Davis, two school resource officers were walking the hallways when they witnessed a fight. As they began intervening, they were alerted that one of the student had a knife. Davis said the SRO’s were able to quickly disarm the suspect and take him into custody.

Seven students, including one of ones that was the injured, were arrested and charged.

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Schools George Arlotto said it’s unfortunate the first few weeks back at school have resorted to this. He urged parents as well as the community to come together and help students handle situations better.

Arlotto also commended the SRO’s and staff for their quick reaction that spared everyone from more tragedy. He added, they do not believe the actual root of the fight originated on school property.

In the meantime, all parties have been charged as juveniles. Officials said more charges can and are expected as the investigation continues.
