A man who locked himself in a hotel room has reportedly died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, in turn, ending a 10-hour stand off with Hawaiian authorities.

According to reports, hundreds of those staying at the Kahala Hotel and Resort were either evacuated or sheltered in the ballroom after shots were fired Saturday afternoon. This triggered an extensive stand off. Authorities said everyone staying at the resort was accounted for and no one was injured.

Nearly two dozen members of the Honolulu Police Department’s Specialized Services Division along with other members of the department and negotiators were brought to the scene. A SWAT team entered the man’s room around 3:30 a.m., where they said he was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

While officials have yet to disclose the suspects identity, reports suggested the man was a member of the Navy. Authorities will continue looking into the man’s motive as the investigation continues.
