A murder suspect in Southern California is in custody after leading law enforcement on a dangerous two-hour car chase. On Tuesday evening, police arrested 35-year-old Michael Reed when he crashed his vehicle into a semi-truck at an intersection in Pamona, California.

The car chase began around 5:30 p.m. local time as the suspect drove through red lights and attempted to go in the opposite direction. The semi-trucker who stopped the pursuit said he purposely attempted to block the suspects path.

“I waited for him, ” said Ahmed Shabaan, the semi-truck driver. “Then when I just waited for the right moment and I blocked him and hit him because if I didn’t stop him, he was going to kill somebody else and that was my main concern.”

Reed is wanted on suspicion of carjacking and evasion while also being the suspect for a deadly shooting in Oildale. Both Reed and an additional female passenger were taken into custody at the scene.
