Rep. Bob Good, R-Va., says the Biden administration and Democratic Party are trying to take away Americans’ Second Amendment rights to “defend ourselves” while Hunter Biden has yet to be prosecuted for falsifying information on his application for a gun.
Good, who, along with 22 members of Congress, has demanded an investigation into allegations Hunter Biden lied on his background check, told Newsmax TV’s “American Agenda” Wednesday that Hunter Biden “ought to be investigated and, if necessary, prosecuted because of his violation of the law in … successfully purchasing that gun.”
“The same administration, the same party that’s allowing criminals to stream across our border, seeking to defund our police, celebrating violence and lawlessness, encouraging it in our cities, also want to take away our Second Amendment rights to protect ourselves,” Good said.
“We continue to see the gun grab efforts by this administration, the Democrat majority in Congress, and what we’re doing is asking the new appointed director to the ATF by President Biden to enforce the law equally for everyone. It’s known that Hunter Biden is a known drug user, he’s admitted to it, he’s made light of it and he falsified his application to purchase a gun and that should be prosecuted.”
According to Good’s letter to ATF Director David Chapman, Biden answered “no” to the question about drug use on Firearms Transaction Record in October 2018, which read, “Are you an unlawful user of, or addicted to, marijuana or any depressant, stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance?”
The letter reiterated that lying on a background check form constitutes a felony. Prosecutions, though, are exceedingly rare.
The probe stems from a report last month indicating that the Secret Service investigated a 2018 incident in which Hunter Biden’s former girlfriend threw his gun in a public trash can in Delaware.
Delaware police were investigating the incident when Secret Service agents reportedly approached the owner of the gun store where Hunter Biden purchased the weapon and asked to take the paperwork involving the sale. The store owner refused and later turned the papers over to the ATF.
