The endorsement that matters in Missouri's race for the Senate is from the voters, Rep. Vicky Hartzler insisted Monday on Newsmax after former President Donald Trump ruled out endorsing her in the close race for the GOP nomination.

"I think the president's been listening to some of my opponents, but, you know, the endorsement that really matters is the people of Missouri," the Republican lawmaker said on Newsmax's "Wake Up America." "We are getting so much support from all over this state, and that is what ultimately is going to prevail."
Trump said Friday night on his social media platform, Truth Social, that "You can forget about Vicky Hartzler for Senate from the Great State of Missouri."
"I was anything but positive in that I don’t think she has what it takes to take on the Radical Left Democrats, together with their partner in the destruction of our Country, the Fake News Media, and, of course, the deceptive & foolish RINOS," Trump further said.
Trump hasn't officially endorsed a candidate, but told the OAN Network later on Friday that former Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens is "the one the Democrats legitimately want to run against" and said the former governor is "tough and he’s smart. A little controversial, but I’ve endorsed controversial people before. So we’ll see what happens," reports The Columbia Tribune.
Greitens resigned as governor in 2018 while he was threatened with impeachment over accusations that he'd stolen from a veterans charity, the newspaper reported. According to a Real Clear Politics polling average, Greitens is holding a two-point lead in the race.
Hartzler told Newsmax on Monday that people in her state know that she is "not just the pro-life champion, but also the person who has been getting things done as the true conservative record in Washington, fighting for our values."
She also insisted that she's a fighter and has the experience needed to stop the "train wreck" created by President Joe Biden and to help turn the country around.
Greitens has been putting himself out as the "America first" candidate, but Hartzler said Monday his claims are "a joke."
"He's the himself-first candidate," said Hartzler. "I am the one that's been working with President Trump and we got to rebuild the military. I went to the border to empower our Border Patrol agents. We had American energy Independence and have stood strong for life for Israel to grow our economy. Those are the things that matter to Missourians and that's what I bring to this race. I think that will prevail on Aug. 2."
Hartzler on Monday further commented on reports that Biden is considering the declaration of a public health emergency to support abortion access.
"It means we have a president who's going against the will of the people and the will of the Supreme Court and continuing to promote an all-hands-on-deck approach to try to promote abortion and death for babies in this country, and it's very, very sad," said Hartzler. "Some of the provisions here are concerning. He wants to make sure that women have information about where they can access abortion. Well, I have sponsored a bill called The Women's Right to Know Act, which would give women accurate information about the dangers and concerns of abortion."
Biden also isn't promoting information about adoption or more positive outcomes for an unplanned pregnancy, Hartzler said.
