It's not one of the bigger races of the election cycle. But Republicans are celebrating nonetheless.

The GOP on Tuesday flipped the mayoralty in the small community of Rochester, New Hampshire, according to WMUR and the state Republican Party. Republican Paul Callaghan was elected, defeating incumbent Democrat Caroline McCarley.

Democrats have held the mayoral seat since 2005, news reports said.
