Tom Emmer to Newsmax TV: Texas Special Election GOP Win Is Prelude for 2022 (Newsmax TV/"Spicer & Co.")

Rep. Tom Emmer told Newsmax's "Spicer & Co." he considers the national push against the Democratic liberal agenda to be foreshadowed by the Texas Special Election result where Democrats failed in their attempt to take the vacant seat.

“I think in the Texas 6th Congressional District (election) that was run last Saturday, this is what you're going to see because of the crisis at the border that Joe Biden has created; because Nancy Pelosi and her radical socialist agenda, again open borders-closed schools, defund the police or abolish the police, clearly this is what Democrats have to expect is going to happen come November 2022,” said Rep. Tom Emmer, R-Minn., on Newsmax TV.

Emmer, the National Republican Congressional Committee Chair, appeared on Tuesday’s “Spicer & Co.” to discuss how the GOP plans to regain a majority in the House.

“The majority are within five seats right now,” he said, describing how close the GOP is to taking control of the U.S. House of Representatives.

“I don't think a lot of people understand that the difference between 213, which we ended up with and 218 which makes the majority across the country, was only 31,751 votes,” he shared.

“You realize this is a district that Donald Trump won by three points last fall in the turnout was over 20 points better for Republicans than it was for Democrats,” he said.

The 2021 Texas 6th congressional district special election was held on May 1, 2021. The seat has been vacant since incumbent Republican Ron Wright died on February 7, 2021 of COVID-19.

Ron Wright's widow, Susan Wright from Arlington, who was endorsed by former U.S. president Donald Trump, will advance to the runoff, reported the NY Times.

Overall, this is just part of the plan to gain seats in the House.

"We've targeted 47 before this week, Democrats, which included 29 that are in seats that Donald Trump either won last fall or they were within five points, and obviously when you saw that number, when you hear that number, you know how razor thin those already were,” he declared.

“Now this week, we've expanded the list” of targeted seats held by Democrats, he added, “we have we've expanded the map.”

Liberal Socialist Democrats “are going to have an incredibly difficult time trying to defend an agenda that includes raising trillions of dollars of new taxes, by open borders, closed schools, they’ve gone from defunding the police to abolishing the police, he said.

“These are not mainstream values and that is why we're going to hold them accountable all over the country. We're going to expand this map as big as we can,” he stated.

We're going to make sure that they follow the rules all across the country, and I'm confident that if that happens, when we achieve that, we're going to do very well, he concluded.
