West Virginia GOP Gov. Jim Justice on Sunday urged political parties to "lay down our arms" and work for a more united nation, dismissing the idea the GOP will remain the party of President Donald Trump.
In an interview on CBS News’ “Face The Nation,” Justice said the nation’s problems are too big to embrace political divisions.
“We need to absolutely lay down our arms as far as Republicans and Democrats and quit pitting ourselves against one another,” he said. “At some point in time, we have to realize we’re Americans. .. all the courts, everybody has said that we had an election and Joe Biden is our president. We should respect that in every way.”
He added that he doesn’t want to weigh in on the controversies surrounding the 2020 election.
“It is not my decision to weigh in. All I'm doing is stirring the pot when I weigh in,” he said. “I want us to be together. Forget Republicans and Democrats.”
