The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday cleared the release of Donald Trump's tax returns to a congressional committee, handing a defeat to the Republican former president who had called the Democrat-led panel's request politically motivated.

The justices denied Trump's Oct. 31 emergency application to block a lower court's ruling that upheld a request by the House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee for the tax records as a justified part of the panel's legislative work while his lawyers prepared an appeal.

Sen. Graham Testifies in Georgia About 2020 Election

Sen. Graham Testifies in Georgia About 2020 Election (Newsmax/"American Agenda")

By Charles Kim | Tuesday, 22 November 2022 02:36 PM EST

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., appeared Tuesday to testify before a Georgia grand jury regarding the 2020 election.

According to CNN, Graham was expected to answer Fulton County prosecutor's questions about alleged attempts by then-President Donald Trump to overturn the 2020 election.

The report said that the probe likely would include questions about Graham's calls to Georgia election officials and his interactions with the Trump campaign in the days following the 2020 contest.

Graham had fought the subpoena requiring his appearance under the Constitution’s Speech or Debate clause, but the U.S. Supreme Court declined to block his appearance, the report said.

The Fulton County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that the Senator entered the courthouse around 8 a.m. ET Tuesday.

While not blocking the appearance, the courts did rule that Graham could object to some of the questions, including matters where he collected facts as part of his legislative duties, but would have to respond to public comments he made and anything he may have done to "cajole" Georgia election officials to disregard votes.

One federal appeals court judge said that Graham must answer questions about "coordination with the Trump campaign regarding its post-election efforts in Georgia, public statements regarding the 2020 election, and efforts to 'cajole' or 'exhort' Georgia election officials," the report said.

The probe comes from Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger who claimed that in a phone call, Graham left the impression that he should throw out some of the ballots.

"It was just an implication of, 'Look hard and see how many ballots you could throw out,'" CNN reported Raffensperger, who has already testified in front of the panel, saying at the time.

Republican Gov. Brian Kemp, who just won reelection, testified in front of the grand jury last week after a judge denied his attempt to avoid the appearance in August, according to NBC News.

President Joe Biden narrowly defeated Trump in the vote tally by 11,779 votes, just 0.2%, according to Politico.

Almost 5 million people voted in that race, with Biden getting 2,473,633 votes and Trump garnering 2,461,854 votes.

NBC reported that Trump was angry with Kemp for not convening a special session of the state legislature to reverse Biden’s victory amid claims of election fraud.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is handling the case for the state, CNN reported.

Rep. Brady to Newsmax: Biden’s ‘Cruel’ Economy Damaging

Rep. Brady to Newsmax: Biden's 'Cruel' Economy Damaging rep. kevin brady giving a speech Rep. Kevin Brady, R-Texas (Getty Images)

By Jay Clemons | Tuesday, 22 November 2022 02:33 PM EST

Rep. Kevin Brady, R-Texas, believes the Biden administration is being "very dismissive" about the inflationary costs associated with Thanksgiving week, the December holidays, and the looming threat of a brutally cold winter.

The Texas Republican also sees it as poor optics that Biden will be vacationing on the ritzy Nantucket Island on Thanksgiving weekend, while Americans who've been "hurt by the Biden economy" are tightening their belts for what's likely coming next.

"Most working families would tell you it's a very cruel economy right now," Brady said Tuesday on Newsmax's "John Bachman Now."

Brady said Americans are being crushed by the rising holiday costs with gasoline, groceries, hotels, and rental cars.

"It's the ongoing burden of these high prices," said Brady, who added that many American families are skipping meals, dipping into savings, and losing a chunk of their purchasing power — compared to the Trump economy from a few years ago.

Brady added: "Lots of Americans are worried about whether they'll have a job [moving forward], because the Biden economy — which includes the Biden inflation — is just so damaging to real Americans."

The real crisis could be coming in a few weeks, warns Brady, with families being forced to choose between putting food on the table and meeting energy costs.

"I worry this winter could be very cruel to a lot of families," said Brady, in terms of heating their homes, having enough gasoline to get around in bad weather, and being able to stretch their food dollar even further. "But the president just says, 'You've got to live with it.'"

Brady said a Republican-controlled House chamber, which convenes Jan. 3, will curb the Democrats' "out-of-control" spending.

Republicans also will tout free-market programs which promote job growth and more technological innovations.

"Will the president work with us to help ease this cruel economy? I wouldn't bet so," Brady said.

Rep. Mike Waltz to Newsmax: Dems 'Eroded Public Trust in Our Institutions' (Newsmax/"John Bachman Now")

By Nicole Wells | Tuesday, 22 November 2022 02:06 PM EST

Democrats have "eroded public trust in our institutions" and Attorney General Merrick Garland's appointment of Jack Smith as special counsel to oversee investigations into former President Donald Trump is just another example, Rep. Mike Waltz, R-Fla., told Newsmax on Tuesday.

"What's such a shame here is so many actions on the part of the Democrats have eroded public trust in our institutions," Waltz told "John Bachman Now." "We've seen [Dr. Anthony] Fauci up at the podium time and time again, misleading the American people about gain of function, about taxpayer funding of gain of function.

"We have the same type of erosion in confidence in any type of independent prosecutor when we saw [special counsel Robert] Mueller load up his team with Clinton supporters and people who had donated to the Democratic Party and yet pretend to be independent.

"We're seeing the same thing now with this one," he continued, referring to Smith. "This is about politics. This is about hanging a cloud over President Trump and his 2024 run to retake the presidency and make America great again and that's all this is about."

CBS News confirmed Monday the authenticity of Hunter Biden's laptop, with senior investigative correspondent Catherine Herridge tweeting, "CBS News has obtained data from a laptop purported to have belonged to Hunter Biden."

"The data came directly from the source who said they provided it to the FBI under subpoena," she said.

When asked why the mainstream media is suddenly coming around about the laptop's legitimacy, the Florida Republican said it was obviously a way to cover themselves once the GOP begins digging.

"It's obvious to the entire world that there are going to be investigations, that the FBI has been sitting on this laptop now for years," he said. "As someone focused on national security, I can tell you for certain the Chinese Communist Party and the Bank of China, who was partnered with Hunter Biden, doesn't give you a billion and a half dollars to invest in shoestring factories.

"They want artificial intelligence, advanced materials, quantum computing – things with clear national security concerns," Waltz continued. "And what did Hunter Biden use in terms of his influence and his father's influence to bypass export restrictions on those types of advanced technologies that are now funding the Chinese military build-up and helping them with their technological edge? There's a lot to unpack.

"I promise you, as Republicans, when we take control of the House, we are going to get to the bottom of it," he added.

Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday asked a federal court in Florida to provide him and his lawyers with a complete version of the sworn statement that federal investigators used to obtain a search warrant for his Florida property in August.

Prosecutors are conducting a criminal probe over the retention of government records at the resort after Trump's presidency ended. The motion to unseal the affidavit was requested in a court filing in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.

Former President Donald Trump will likely testify in New York City court next year in defense against the $250 million lawsuit filed by New York Attorney General Letitia James, his lawyer said on Tuesday.

The trial could decide whether Trump and his three eldest children are able to run a corporation in New York state. Trump's attorney, Alina Habba, told Business Insider on Tuesday while at a Manhattan civil courthouse that "they will be here," adding, "all of them."

Trump and his three eldest children also face a tax-fraud lawsuit in Manhattan, in which they have requested a jury trial rather than the bench trial requested by James' office.

"Most cases don't go to trial because they have no merit, just like this one," Habba told Insider. "But Mr. Trump will be — President Trump will be — very involved."

Herschel Walker, Sen. Warnock Both Using Gov. Kemp in Runoff

Herschel Walker, Sen. Warnock Both Using Gov. Kemp in Runoff (Newsmax)

By Eric Mack | Tuesday, 22 November 2022 11:59 AM EST

After Georgia GOP Gov. Brian Kemp won reelection on the backs of 200,000 split-ticket voters against Democrat Stacey Abrams, Sen. Raphael Warnock, D-Ga., is trying to hone in on that voting bloc against Republican Herschel Walker.

"Gov. Kemp is one of — if not the most important — pieces of the puzzle for a Walker victory on Dec. 6," 34N22 PAC strategist Stephen Lawson told Axios.

Kemp will make it difficult now, though, because after distancing himself in the Nov. 8 midterm election, he is now campaigning in the Dec. 6 runoff for Walker, who is endorsed by former President Donald Trump.

"You stopped Stacey; now reject Warnock," a Walker campaign ad reads.

Kemp earned 200,000 more votes than Walker did Nov. 8 against Warnock, who won, but failed to reach 50% support to win outright without a runoff.

"I just can't get past Herschel Walker's lack of character," a Warnock voter says in a Democrat campaign ad.

That messaging is running counter to Kemp's personal view now, though.

At a Cobb County campaign rally, Kemp called Walker "my friend" and "a guy that represents our values" in Georgia.

Still, split voters that voted against Walker are leading Warnock's campaign messaging, as one in an ad says Walker "simply just has too much baggage to be an effective leader."

That voter suggested Kemp's Walker support is disingenuous.

"He's a Republican and that's his job" to back Walker, the voter says in the ad. "It's a little disappointing, but I'm not surprised."

Pence: Biden Took Fauci Out of His COVID ‘Lane’

By Charlie McCarthy | Tuesday, 22 November 2022 08:44 AM EST

Former Vice President Mike Pence blamed the Biden administration and Dr. Anthony Fauci for mismanaging the COVID-19 response that had been established under the Trump administration.

Pence, while promoting his new memoir "So Help Me God," told NBC News that Fauci's role changed after Biden replaced former President Donald Trump.

"I think in the early days of the coronavirus task force, Dr. Fauci was a great source of comfort to millions of Americans," Pence said Sunday on "Meet the Press."

"He had an easygoing bedside manner through which he communicated at the podium. And as I said, we had a good rapport in those days. Because Dr. Fauci, in my time leading the task force, always stayed in his lane."

However, after Biden became president, Fauci was "empowered" to lead the COVID response.

"When the Biden administration came in and essentially turned over the management of COVID to Dr. Fauci, I was not surprised to see them put all of their emphasis on vaccines, then after having promised that they would not mandate vaccines, then seeking to mandate vaccines on Americans," Pence, the head of the White House's coronavirus task force at the beginning of the pandemic, told NBC News. "That was the doctor approach.

"And I think when President Biden came in and essentially empowered Dr. Fauci, I think the American people recoiled at that approach. And sadly, the Biden administration lost more Americans in their first year with COVID than we did in our first year, a year where we had none of the tools, few supplies, no testing, ultimately no medicines until the end."

Pence has said he's considering a run for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024.

Trump officially kicked off his campaign last week.

Republicans who won control of the House in the next Congress are expected to conduct several investigations surrounding the Biden administration, including its COVID-19 response.

Several GOP representatives have called for a subpoena to call upon Fauci, the outgoing director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease, to testify before Congress despite his imminent retirement at year's end.

Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., and other Republican lawmakers attacked Fauci throughout the pandemic for what they perceive as contradictory or misleading statements.

The last Republican to hold Speakership in the House, Paul Ryan, weighed in on the midterms and what he looks ahead to in 2024. The Republican spoke out against 45th President Donald Trump. He also made it clear why he doesn’t want him back in the White House.

During an interview with ABC on Sunday, Ryan (R-Wis.) blamed the underwhelming midterm results on Trump. The 54th Speaker of the United States House of Representatives cited the “Trump factor” and emphasized the performance gap between Trump-backed Republicans and non-Trump Republicans.

He is of the opinion that there were several races where an establishment Republican could have won where a Trump candidate lost. He believes that there are many excellent conservatives who are more than capable of not only serving in politics as excellent conservatives, but also capable of winning elections.

Ryan went on the tout the achievements of the Trump Administration, saying that he will always be proud of the work he did with Trump but he doesn’t believe a Trump nomination in 2024 would be good for Republicans.

“I was not a ‘never Trumper,’” Ryan said. “I governed with him, and I am very proud of those days. I am proud of the accomplishments of the tax reform, deregulation, criminal justice reform. I am really excited about the judges we got on the bench, not just the Supreme Court but throughout the judiciary. But I am a ‘Never-Again-Trumper.’ Why? Because I want to win. And we lose with Trump.”

Ryan denied any future plans to run for president. However, he hopes the GOP will consolidate around someone forged in the primary process that is capable of winning the general election.

Rep. David Valadao’s Win Gives GOP 220th House Seat

Rep. David Valadao's Win Gives GOP 220th House Seat (Newsmax)

By Eric Mack | Monday, 21 November 2022 10:13 PM EST

Rep. David Valadao, R-Calif., is officially the winner of California's 22nd Congressional District, Newsmax can project Monday night.

Valadao defeated Democrat Rudy Salas by 3,358 votes (51,777-48,419), winning by a 3.6-point margin (51.68%-48.32%).

The victory secures the 220th House seat for Republicans to 211 for Democrats with four races remaining too close to call. The race took almost two weeks to be decided due to California's mass mail-in balloting and legalized ballot harvesting laws.

Among the four remaining races, Republicans lead two of them, including Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., who's lead is headed for a state-mandated recount. Also, John Duarte holds a razor-thin lead in California's newly redrawn 15th Congressional District.

The other two races remain stuck in ranked-choice voting limbo in Alaska and Maine.

If both of the GOP leads hold, Republicans will have at least a 222-213 majority come January.

Valadao was one of 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach former President Donald Trump in early 2021 after Trump left office. He was targeted in the GOP primary but remains one of only two of those 10 impeachment GOP seats still in Congress.

Just one other remains in the House after these midterms: Rep. Dan Newhouse, D-Wash.

Bill Barr Says GOP Needs New Leadership

Bill Barr Says GOP Needs New Leadership (Newsmax)

By Michael Katz | Monday, 21 November 2022 09:50 PM EST

Former Attorney General Bill Barr is urging new leadership for the Republican Party, which he said faces a historic opportunity in the 2024 elections to take advantage of the leftward lurch of Democrats.

In an opinion piece for media website Common Sense, Barr said the GOP in 2024 can revive the coalition that was so popular under Ronald Reagan in the 1980s, a combination of Republican-leaning, college-educated suburbanites, culturally conservative working-class voters and even some liberals who are turned off by the left’s authoritarianism.

But Barr wrote the person standing in the way of that happening is his former boss, Donald Trump.

“It is painfully clear from his track record in both the 2020 election and the 2022 midterms that Donald Trump is neither capable of forging this winning coalition or delivering the decisive and durable victory required,” Barr wrote. “Indeed, among the current crop of potential nominees, Trump is the person least able to unite the party and the one most likely to lose the general election.”

Barr, who came under fire from Trump after he wouldn’t back the former president’s claims about fraud in the 2020 election, credited Trump’s presidency for “stopping progressives’ momentum and achieving important policy successes during his administration.”

But he wrote the party needs a leader who can provide more than “bombastic rhetoric.” It needs a “substantive, strategic, and disciplined president capable of executing a plan to achieve the durable reforms needed to set the country back on a sane course.”

He said Trump’s divisive actions since the 2020 election are not those of someone capable of leading the party. He wrote Trump is willing to destroy the party if he doesn’t get his way.

“The threat is simple: Unless the rest of the party goes along with him, he will burn the whole house down by leading ‘his people’ out of the GOP,” Barr wrote.

Charlamagne Tha God: 'Sad' If All Democrats Have Is Biden in '24 (Newsmax)

By Michael Katz | Monday, 21 November 2022 09:22 PM EST

Syndicated radio and TV host Charlamagne Tha God said Monday it was "sad" if all Democrats had to bank on in the 2024 election is President Joe Biden.

"I think [a rematch] can go either way," he told Fox News Digital if Biden again faces Donald Trump. "Like, I don't think it's a sure thing, which is sad, right? … It's sad that we're saying it's still a toss-up between [Trump] and President Biden."

But he said if the Republican nominee is Trump or Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis, whose popularity within the party has soared after the midterm elections, it will be tough for the Democrats to win.

"We know in 2024 it's going to be DeSantis and Trump" for Republicans, Charlamagne said on his latest Comedy Central show "Hell of a Week." "I think what should scare people is that the Democrats don't got nobody."

Charlamagne, whose real name is Lenard McKelvey, did not voice confidence in Vice President Kamala Harris should she run and win the party's nomination.

"No, I don't think the vice president stands a chance against Donald Trump or Ron DeSantis unless something magically changes over the next two years, and she pivots greatly, you know, but based on what we've seen so far, no," he told Fox News Digital.

Charlamagne said defeating Trump should be easy, given the multiple investigations surrounding the former president. But he blamed Democrats for what could be an upset in the making.

"I think that's more indicative of what, you know, Democrats aren't doing," Charlamagne said. "And for me, I just don't see the bench that the Democrats have. I personally don't see the person that they could put up in 2024 that could really galvanize and energize people. I mean, the fact that Biden is still their safest best — ugh. I think that's sad, too."

Former Vice President Mike Pence discussed the mishandling of vaccine distribution from the Biden administration.

In an interview on Sunday, the 48th Vice President criticized the Biden administration for focusing on vaccines at the expense of developing therapeutic treatments.

Additionally, Pence touted the Trump administration’s efforts to reinvent testing thanks to American technologies. This resulted in tens of millions of people being tested a month.

Pence, who was a chairman in the Trump administration’s COVID-19 response said that investments on American therapeutic innovation was the best approach to handling the pandemic.

“The Biden administration focused exclusively on vaccines, our administration focused on empowering states to provide them with the supplies, countermeasure for nursing homes. Making sure that there are therapeutics available and distributed. There should have been an Operation Warp Speed on therapeutics. The Biden administration literally, literally, stopped the development of testing,” Pence said.

In the meantime, the White House has made a renewed push to promote the COVID vaccine, despite the current president declaring the pandemic was over.

By Michael Katz | Monday, 21 November 2022 07:07 PM EST

Kanye West returned to Twitter on Sunday night with his first post in more than two weeks, tweeting “Shalom,” a Hebrew salutation that also means “peace.”

In early October, the rapper known as Ye’s Twitter account was restricted after a series of antisemitic rants. Restricted accounts cannot post or interact on Twitter. Suspended accounts are removed.

Ye also was banned from Instagram and lost profitable fashion deals with Adidas, Gap, Balenciaga and Vogue.

Ye on Sunday afternoon issued his first tweet to his 32.2 million followers since Nov. 4, writing “Testing. Testing. Seeing if my Twitter is unblocked.”

Twitter owner Elon Musk, who said Ye’s account was reinstated before he bought the company on Oct. 27, responded, “Don’t kill what ye hate. Save what ye love.”

On Sunday night, Ye tweeted “Shalom” followed by the icon for a smiley face.

In a video published Sunday by celebrity news site X17, Ye said he plans to sell hoodies from Yeezy, Gap, Adidas and Balenciaga for $20 each.

“I'll cut up 100 hoodies from Yeezy, from Balenciaga, from the stuff we did at Gap from the stuff we did at Adidas, and everything we do is going to cost $20. We need to make sure that everyone can receive the same level of cuts, the same level of food, the same level of water, the same level of education, the curriculum, the engineering,” Ye said. “We are beings with engineering opportunities. We’re getting past the past and focused on the future.”

Buddy Carter to Newsmax: McCarthy’s Pledge to Remove Dems Merits Applause

Buddy Carter to Newsmax: McCarthy's Pledge to Remove Dems Merits Applause (Newsmax/"The Chris Salcedo Show")

By Jay Clemons | Monday, 21 November 2022 06:32 PM EST

Rep. Buddy Carter has noticed an interesting spin trend among House Democrats and the left-leaning media, when Democratic Party leadership boots Republicans from committee assignments — compared to the opposite censure taking place.

"When Democrats [in power] do it, it's about 'protecting democracy.' And when the Republicans do it, it's 'fear-mongering' or 'chaos,'" Carter told Newsmax Monday afternoon, while appearing on "The Chris Salcedo Show."

Carter was referencing reports of incoming House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., planning to remove three Democrats — Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., and Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif. — from their various House committee assignments, once a new Congress convenes on Jan. 3.

The Georgia Republican was also lamenting Schiff's recent comments of a Republican-controlled Congress devolving into "chaos" next year.

"I'm in full support of Kevin McCarthy being our next speaker," said Carter, who was recently reelected to his fourth consecutive congressional term (by 18-plus percentage points), while overseeing Georgia's 1st district.

"I applaud [McCarthy] for this move," added Carter. "Anyone who jeopardizes national security [allegedly Swalwell], anyone who makes antisemitic comments … they should be removed from committees."

Carter then said, "This is the right thing to do, and I hope [McCarthy] follows through on that — and I expect him to follow through."

During his Newsmax interview, Carter was also asked about Paul Ryan's recent anti-Trump comments, essentially blaming former President Donald Trump for the Republicans not carrying the Senate majority in the recent midterms.

However, instead of coming out in support of Ryan or Trump, Carter opted for the high road in saying, "We've got to unite as a party and end this infighting. … We are right on policy — that's key here.

"We don't need this infighting [moving forward]. We don't need to be our own worst enemy," added Carter, while opining the American people deserve consistent, articulate Republican policies which emphasize freedoms at every turn.

Next House Oversight Chair Says Mar-a-Lago Documents Not Top Priority

Next House Oversight Chair Says Mar-a-Lago Documents Not Top Priority (Newsmax)

By Brian Pfail | Monday, 21 November 2022 06:24 PM EST

Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., who is on track to become chairman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee next year, said the committee would not prioritize its efforts into the classified documents seized by the FBI at former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.

“That will not be a priority,” Comer told CNN in an interview, adding that the committee is “just waiting to see what comes out of that.”

The House Oversight and Reform Committee chaired by outgoing Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y., has been investigating Trump’s mishandling of presidential records for several months. The probe is separate from the Department of Justice’s investigation, which had the nation's attention in August after the FBI raided Mar-a-Lago.

In September, Maloney sent a letter to the acting archivist of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), Debra Steidel Wall, urging her to obtain a “personal certification” from Trump that he relinquished all presidential records he removed from the White House. Maloney also requested a group to do “an urgent review” of the recovered documents.

The letter came after reports that Trump’s attorney’s misled investigators on the possessed classified documents, and there were empty folders meant for classified materials.

In August, Republicans on the House Oversight and Reform Committee wrote a letter to Wall asking for clarity over its role in the FBI’s search of Mar-a-Lago.

Asked if he believes NARA when it says it does not do matters based on politics, Comer told CNN, “we’ll have to wait and see.”

“I know that the day that National Archives met with Carolyn Maloney was the day that they contacted the DOJ about their concern. So, I don’t know,” Comer told the network. “I don’t get involved in a lot of the drama from the last administration.”

Comer is anticipated to become the chair when Republicans take control of the House. Republicans have promised several investigations to come.

The potential targets include Hunter Biden, the Biden family’s business activities with Ukraine, politicization in the DOJ, the origins of COVID-19, the withdrawal from Afghanistan, the border crisis and the Biden administration’s policies.
