Vice President Kamala Harris’ announcement of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate has already brought fresh scrutiny on his record on immigration and border security – including his support of driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants and calls to make Minnesota a sanctuary state.

Moments after the pick was reported, Republicans hammered the choice, with former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley describing a Harris/Walz ticket as “a win for open borders, socialism, and Iran.”

The Republican National Committee immediately hit him on his record, accusing him of flooding illegal immigrants with benefits. It noted Walz’s creation of an “Office of New Americans” to help immigrants and refugees integrate into the United States.

The RNC also pointed to measures that became law during Walz’s time as governor. The committee highlighted his signing of a bill into law last year that allows illegal immigrants to get a driver’s license.

“Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are two open borders, weak on crime, defund the police liberals who make up the most radical, far-left ticket in the history of our country,” RNC Chairman Michael Whatley said in a statement.

Walz last week dismissed former President Trump’s efforts to build additional walls at the southern border, quipping that if he did, he’d invest in a ladder factory.

“He talks about this wall, I always say, let me know how high it is. If it’s 25 feet, then I’ll invest in the 30-foot ladder factory,” he said on CNN. “That’s not how you stop this.”

During Walz’s time as governor, Democrats passed measures to make illegal immigrants eligible for a tuition-free college program, Axios reported, and also expanded access to the state’s MinnesotaCare to include those in the country illegally. In 2018, he appeared to voice support for “sanctuary policies.”

“My position on Minnesota becoming a sanctuary state boils down to who has the responsibility for enforcing immigration laws,” he told CBS News in 2018. “Here’s what I believe: Congress has given federal agencies the authority to enforce immigration laws in Minnesota, and I support their doing so. Congress has not given local law enforcement that same authority. The role of law enforcement is to enforce state and local laws, not federal immigration laws, and I strongly believe that they should not do so.”

“All Minnesotans are safer when the limited resources of local law enforcement are focused on local crimes, and when everyone feels safe to cooperate fully with the police. For example, if your neighbor witnesses someone breaking into your home, you are safer when your neighbor knows their immigration status is not at risk if they call the police.”

House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., hit Walz for those remarks and past positions.

“The most liberal ‘nominee’ to ever appear on a presidential ballot has now chosen a progressive running mate who has voiced support for socialism, supports sanctuary cities, and wants to give driver’s licenses to the millions of illegal aliens Kamala Harris has allowed into our country,” Johnson said.

Texas Gov. Greg Abott called the pairing “the most dangerous P/VP ticket ever.”

“She supports free health care to illegal immigrants. He signed laws giving state services to them. Both provide magnets for more illegal immigration,” he said on X.

As a congressman, Walz drew criticism from immigration hawks and praise from left-wing activist groups. The American Immigration Lawyer’s Association (AILA) gave him 100% ratings for his votes. Meanwhile, NumbersUSA gave him a D career rating, and an F- for the 115th Congress.

NumbersUSA, which calls for lower levels of immigration, pointed to his cosponsoring of the American Promise Act, which would grant a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants protected by Temporary Protected Status (TPS). It also pointed to his votes on bills limiting the practice of family separation, and to increase refugee numbers.

However, the group noted positively a 2008 vote to increase funding for the construction of a border fence, and a 2012 measure to place cell towers on the border for Border Patrol agents to use.

As governor, he came under pressure from state Republicans, who wanted him to join other governors in sending the National Guard and other solutions to fix the crisis at the border.

“Walz’ refusal to step in and help Border Patrol and law enforcement is inexcusable,” the Republican Governors’ Association said in 2021. “He must put politics aside and stop turning a blind eye to the massive humanitarian and security crisis at our border.”

The Harris campaign’s statement announcing Walz as her running mate did not mention any achievements or positions on immigration or border security and the Harris campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment on his past positions.

In a statement, Harris touted his convictions “on fighting for middle class families.”

“As a governor, a coach, a teacher, and a veteran, he’s delivered for working families like his own. We are going to build a great partnership,” she said. “We start out as underdogs but I believe together, we can win this election.”

Democrats are applauding Vice President Kamala Harris’ choice for vice president after not having a full ticket for several weeks following President Biden’s withdrawal from the race.

After a sped-up vetting process, it was revealed on Tuesday that Harris had selected Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz to run alongside her on the 2024 presidential ticket against former President Trump. 

“Kamala Harris and Tim Walz will lead America into a brighter future for everyone. Onward!” House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., wrote on X, formerly Twitter, after the announcement.

“Tim Walz is wonderful,” former Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., told “Morning Joe” on Tuesday. “To characterize him as left is so unreal. He’s right down the middle. He’s a heartland of America Democrat.”

Gov. Josh Shapiro, D-Pa., reportedly one of the final two candidates Harris was vetting as a potential running mate, released a supportive statement after the decision.

“Vice President Kamala Harris has my enthusiastic support – and I know that Governor Tim Walz is an exceptionally strong addition to the ticket who will help Kamala move our country forward. Lori and I consider Tim and Gwen to be good friends of ours, and we are excited for them and for the country to get to know the great people we know them to be.”

Another candidate on Harris’ initial shortlist for vice president, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, wrote that Walz “is an exceptionally effective governor – and also great to work with.”

Gov. Gavin Newsom, D-Calif., called the pick “brilliant.”

“No one knows more about the job than the sitting Vice President – who has served for a former two-term VP. Tim Walz is about doing the right thing. Whether it’s free school meals or standing up against gun violence – he’s never been intimidated. He’s about honor and decency, and is exactly the right pick in a campaign about daylight vs darkness,” Newsom wrote on X. “He’s been an incredible partner as a Governor, and will make an incredible Vice President. Let’s go.”

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said she is “thrilled to see Tim Walz join the Democratic ticket.”

“He’ll be an incredible partner to our first woman president. Let’s go win this,” Clinton said.

“Squad” member and fellow Minnesotan, Rep. Ilhan Omar, also showed her support for the Democratic ticket.

“Congratulations to our next Vice President,” Omar wrote on X. “Our North Star state Governor has signed universal school meals, paid family and sick leave, marijuana legalization, and protections for reproductive rights into law. Bringing Minnesota nice to the ticket.”

“Vice President Harris made an excellent decision in Gov. Walz as her running mate,” wrote Rep. Alexandia Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., in a post on X. “Together, they will govern effectively, inclusively, and boldly for the American people. They won’t back down under tight odds, either – from healthcare to school lunch. Let’s do this.”

“@Tim_Walz is a great asset to @KamalaHarris’ winning campaign & administration,” said Sen. Brenie Sanders, I-Vt. “He is a former public school teacher, football coach, and strong union supporter. As governor, he delivered for working families in MN. As VP, he will deliver for the working families of the US.”

“I trust Vice President Harris,” Sen. Laphonza Butler, D-Calif., told Fox. “I think that if you look at Governor Walz’s record as leader of the state of Minnesota, he’s actually been quite balanced.”

Bulter added that she hopes the pick “not only inspires Minnesotans, but Democrats and hopefully other Republicans who are looking to turn the page and create a new future for this country. Hopefully it inspires them as well.”

Harris and Walz will hold their first joint campaign event in Pennsylvania on Tuesday.

Congressional Republicans are salivating over facing an ultra-progressive presidential ticket in November amid news that Vice President Kamala Harris is picking Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., threw a reference to self-described Democratic Socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., on X, “Harris Feels the Bern and picks Walz. Thank you, Kamala! Governor Tim Walz is a dream for the radical Left.”

House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, R-Minn., the highest-ranking House lawmaker from Walz’s home state, accused him of implementing policies that would make it look more like the blue stronghold of California.

“It’s not surprising [Harris] picked Tim Walz to be her running mate — he embodies the same disastrous economic, open-borders, and soft-on-crime policies Harris has inflicted on our country the last four years,” Emmer wrote on X.

“Walz is an empty suit who has worked to turn Minnesota into Harris’ home state of California, and solidifies this ticket’s full embrace of a radical, America-last agenda.”

And in a preview of the GOP’s likely attack strategy over the next three months, several Republicans brought up Walz’s leadership of the state through the Black Lives Matter riots in the summer of 2020.

They also pointed out that Harris promoted a bail fund for rioters, the Minnesota Freedom Fund, when she ran for president in the 2020 cycle.

“The Democrat Party makes history as they anoint Harris-Walz to the ballot this November representing the most radical Far Left wing ticket in history,” said House GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y. “Walz was a failed Member of Congress, is a failed Governor who supported Defund the Police BLM that torched cities to the ground. All while Kamala fundraised to bail out violent criminals from prison.”

Rep. Tom Tiffany, R-Wis., of the neighboring state of Wisconsin wrote in a statement, “While Minnesota burned, Tim Walz did nothing and watched. While Minnesota burned, Kamala Harris helped violent rioters get out of jail. This is the SOCIALIST dream.”

Walz had been criticized during the protests four years ago for not calling in the National Guard sooner while activists burned buildings and looted stores in Minneapolis.

“Tim Walz is a perfect choice for Kamala Harris. He let BLM rioters, arsonists, and looters rampage through his state and she encouraged donations to the bail fund for the few who were arrested,” Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., said.

The newly formed ticket did get praise from top progressives, however, like “Squad” member Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

“Vice President Harris made an excellent decision in Gov. Walz as her running mate. Together, they will govern effectively, inclusively, and boldly for the American people. They won’t back down under tight odds, either – from healthcare to school lunch,” she wrote on X.

Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign attacked former President Trump and his economic record when asked how she would handle a potential recession that economists worry is looming over the U.S. economy. 

“What middle-class families need is steady economic stewardship, not chaotic ranting lies,” Harris campaign spokesperson Ammar Moussa told Fox News Digital when asked if the vice president has a plan crafted to handle a potential recession and what those policies would look like. 

“Donald Trump had the worst jobs record of any modern president, and oversaw some of the worst days in the stock market in history while spending his presidency lining the pockets of his wealthy friends who shipped American jobs overseas. Economic experts agree: His plans would raise costs on working families by $2,500 a year and ‘supercharge’ inflation,” Moussa continued. 

Concerns are mounting this week that the U.S. economy is careening toward a recession, just months ahead of the highly anticipated 2024 presidential election.

Economists at Goldman Sachs this week raised the likelihood of the U.S. slipping into a recession in the next 12 months from 15% to 25%. Though the risk is still considered “limited,” according to the Goldman Sachs experts, global markets plunged overnight on Monday while U.S. stocks opened lower on Monday morning. 

The stock market plunge this week comes after the U.S. jobs report for July found a weaker than expected gain, which triggered what is known as the “Sahm Rule.” Named after former Federal Reserve economist Claudia Sahm, the rule has successfully predicted every recession since 1970.

Harris’ campaign blamed the Trump administration last week for the lackluster jobs report that triggered the Sahm Rule. 

“Donald Trump failed Americans as president, costing our economy millions of jobs, and bringing us to the brink of recession,” Harris for President spokesperson James Singer said in a statement last week. 

“Now, he’s promising even more damage with a Project 2025 agenda that will decimate the middle class and increase taxes on working families, while ripping away health care, raising prescription drug costs, and cutting Social Security and Medicare – all while making his billionaire donors richer.” 

Since President Biden dropped out of the presidential race last month, critics on social media have resurrected Harris’ previous comments on economic issues, including an excerpt from the book “This Will Not Pass: Trump, Biden, and the Battle for America’s Future,” which focused on the 2020 election. An excerpt from the book shows Biden allegedly abruptly dismissed Harris’ comments about beefing up a spending package in 2021 to include funding for “human infrastructure.”

“Harris thought there was something missing from the conversation and she spoke up to say so. What about the rest of the investments the administration wanted in infrastructure? In April alone, the White House has laid out proposals to spend more than $4 trillion on a combination of hard infrastructure and what it called human infrastructure – the social benefits and family-support programs so dear to Democrats,” the passage states. 

Harris reportedly pushed for a larger package than one Republicans would support, ostensibly sparking Biden to shut her down immediately. 

“Biden dismissed her comment immediately,” the book reads.

“It was such a terse response, that even the Republican senators were taken aback. Biden wasn’t wrong – they would never vote for the American Family Plan – but none of them had previously seen him shut down his vice president like that.” 

The vice president’s previous praise of “Bidenomics” has also become a common target among critics and conservatives on social media as the stock market plunges. 

THE STATE OF THE RACE WITH 100 DAYS TO GO UNTIL THE NOVEMBER ELECTION

Harris outlined an economic agenda in a speech last month, arguing Americans should have access to affordable health care, as well as child care. 

“Building up the middle class will be a defining goal of my presidency,” Harris said. “Because we here know when our middle class is strong, America is strong.”

Harris’ campaign website also touts the Biden-Harris administration’s “historic record of accomplishment” on the economic front, including: “bringing our economy back from the brink of disaster to create nearly 16 million new jobs; investing over $1 trillion in infrastructure projects like repairing roads and bridges, removing every lead pipe in America, improving public transit, and expanding access to high-speed internet; strengthening the Affordable Care Act and lowering health insurance premiums to save millions of Americans an average of $800 per year…” 

Harris was also asked in 2021, as inflation prepared to swell to a 40-year high of 9.1% the following year, about how she would handle inflation woes.

“Let’s start with this: Prices have gone up, and families and individuals are dealing with the realities of – that bread costs more, that gas costs more,” Harris said at the time. “And we have to understand what that means. That’s about the cost of living going up. That’s about having to stress and stretch limited resources. That’s about a source of stress for families that is not only economic but is on a daily level something that is a heavy weight to carry.”

“So we have addressed it in a number of ways. One of the issues that we know is related to this is the supply chain issue that we just discussed. So on a domestic level, in terms of domestic policy, one of the approaches we have taken is to work with labor unions and to work with municipalities in opening back up and extending the hours of our ports,” she added.

Trump has meanwhile vowed to correct the economy, lower inflation and end taxes on tips and Social Security benefits. The economy under the Biden-Harris administration has also been a frequent target of the 45th president as he works to reclaim the White House.

“Of course there is a massive market downturn. Kamala is even worse than Crooked Joe. Markets will NEVER accept the Radical Left Lunatic that DESTROYED San Francisco and California, as a whole. Next move, THE GREAT DEPRESSION OF 2024! You can’t play games with MARKETS. KAMALA CRASH!!!,” Trump posted to Truth Social on Monday as the market plunged.

Governor who? Senator what’s-his-name? 

The leading candidates to be Vice President Harris’ running mate on the Democratic presidential ticket are Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. If those names are unfamiliar to you, count yourself among the majority of Americans who don’t know or have never heard of the Democrats who could be the next vice president, according to an NPR/PBS News Marist poll. 

The survey found Kelly has the highest favorability of the three candidates for the No. 2 job in the White House, 31% favorable to 18% unfavorable, but 52% of respondents still said they were unsure or have never heard of him. 

Shapiro, who is speculated to be the front-runner in the veepstakes since Harris will make her first appearance with her running mate in Philadelphia, has a 25%-23% favorable to unfavorable rating. Still, 53% of Americans are unsure. 

HARRIS HOURS AWAY FROM MOST CONSEQUENTIAL ANNOUNCEMENT OF HER CAREER

As for Walz, the progressive favorite is by far the most unknown of the three, with 71% of survey respondents saying they were unsure or had never heard of him. 

Meanwhile, Harris has improved her favorability numbers, which are now 46-48% favorable-unfavorable compared to 40-44% in the previous Marist survey. 

The Republican nominee, former President Trump, is viewed mostly unfavorable, 53%, in contrast to 44% of respondents who have a positive view of the GOP candidate. Trump’s unfavorable score increased four points since the last Marist poll, which was taken right after the Republican National Convention and the assassination attempt on his life in Butler, Pennsylvania. 

The survey of 1,613 adults was conducted between Thursday and Sunday and has a +/- 3.3 percentage point margin of error. Respondents were contacted via cellphone, landline or online research panels in both English and Spanish.

Harris is scheduled to announce her selection at a rally in Philadelphia on Tuesday evening. 

This will be Harris’ first visit to Pennsylvania as the presumptive Democratic nominee for president, after formerly securing the nomination on Monday. The trip also marks her seventh visit to the commonwealth this year and the 17th since she was sworn in as vice president in 2021.

Kelly, Shapiro and Walz are the finalists for the VP job in a truncated vetting process after President Biden shocked the nation by dropping out of the 2024 race and endorsed Harris to succeed him. 

Harris was in Washington, D.C., over the weekend conducting in-person interviews with her potential running mates, Democratic sources confirmed to Fox News. Others under consideration include Govs. Andy Beshear of Kentucky and JB Pritzker of Illinois, and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.

Ahead of her meetings with the contenders, Harris was briefed by a vetting team led by former Attorney General Eric Holder.

The rollout of the announcement is not known, but it’s likely it could come through a video introduction, similar to how Biden announced Harris as his running mate four years ago. But the Harris campaign’s plans could be upended on Monday or Tuesday by a media leak of the announcement.

After the rally in Philadelphia, Harris and her to-be-named running mate will team for an ambitious and jam-packed swing state tour through Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona and Nevada, the seven battlegrounds that will likely determine the outcome of the presidential election.

The vice president drew over 10,000 at her first major rally since taking over for Biden at the top of the Democrats’ ticket, last week at the Georgia State Convocation Center in Atlanta.

Harris will be shadowed on her tour by Republican candidate for vice president JD Vance, forces confirmed to Fox News. The Ohio senator will act as the Trump campaign’s attack dog, attempting to persuade voters against Harris in key swing states.

A controversial advertising alliance has drawn the attention of one of the most powerful House committees in Congress as critics allege it has fostered corporate collusion in order to silence certain political messages. 

The Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM) describes itself as a “cross-industry initiative” started as part of the World Federation of Advertisers that, according to a spokesperson, “was established in 2019 to help the advertising industry address the challenge of illegal or harmful content on digital media platforms and its monetization via advertising.”

“It was set up in the wake of the Christchurch Mosque shootings in which the killer livestreamed the attacks on Facebook,” the spokesperson told Fox News Digital. “This followed a slew of high-profile cases where brands’ advertisements appeared next to illegal or harmful content, such as child pornography and content promoting terrorism. This included the 2017 London Times exposé entitled ‘Big brands fund terror through online adverts.’”

The group claims to be “apolitical” and “voluntary” and says that it benefits its members by providing use of “resources and information about best practices to learn where their advertising investments go, and to avoid placement next to illegal or harmful content that could damage their brands’ reputation.”

“GARM offers voluntary frameworks to help brands choose the content they want their ads to appear next to,” GARM’s website says. 

However, GARM’s critics have a different view of the organization and suggest that it has colluded with dozens of major U.S. corporations to push boycotts and suppress speech in a manner that targets conservatives.

In discussing his views on freedom of speech, GARM’s leader and co-founder, Rob Rakowitz, has expressed frustration with an “extreme global interpretation of the US Constitution” and complained about using “‘principles for governance’ and applying them as literal law from 230 years ago (made by white men exclusively).” With this worldview, GARM pushed what it called “uncommon collaboration” to “rise above individual commercial interest.”

The House Judiciary Committee released an extensive report outlining how it believes “large corporations, advertising agencies, and industry associations participated in boycotts and other coordinated action to demonetize platforms, podcasts, news outlets, and other content deemed disfavored by GARM and its members.”

GARM is alleged to have worked with large companies to implement advertising crackdowns on Elon Musk, Joe Rogan, Spotify, political candidates and news outlets, including Fox News, The Daily Wire and Breitbart News.

“The Committee’s oversight has shown that GARM has deviated far from its original intent, and has collectively used its immense market power to demonetize voices and viewpoints the group disagrees with — even intervening in situations that do not have a so-called ‘brand safety’ concern,” Committee Chairman Jim Jordan wrote in a letter to over 40 companies last week. 

“Through its oversight, the Committee has learned that collusive activity is occurring within the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM), of which your company is a member. In particular, the Committee has uncovered evidence of coordinated action by GARM and its member companies, including boycotts of disfavored social media platforms, podcasts, and news outlets.”

“The Committee on the Judiciary is conducting oversight into the adequacy and enforcement of U.S. antitrust laws,” the letter said.

Along with Adidas, the letter was sent to a variety of other companies, including American Express, Bayer, BP, Carhartt, Chanel, CVS and General Motors, asking them to preserve documents related to their involvement with GARM.

Musk has also publicly criticized GARM and suggested taking legal action against the group while referring to it as an “advertising boycott racket.”

The WFA spokesperson, Will Gilroy, told Fox News Digital this week that the “recent allegations by the US House Judiciary Committee against GARM for anti-competitive behavior are unfounded.”

 “Membership of GARM is entirely voluntary. Its frameworks and tools are intentionally broad, and individual companies are free to review, adopt, modify, or reject them, as they see fit,” Gilroy said. “The decision where and when to advertise is always down to the individual advertiser, in collaboration with their agency partners where relevant.”

“Recent engagement with industry leaders suggests that GARM’s work remains valuable and increasingly relevant as digital media continues to develop,” he continued. “As such, GARM will continue to live up to its commitment to help allow its members to drive more responsible marketing practices.”

GOP Arizona Senate candidate Kari Lake announced Tuesday an event that will feature current and former Democrats supporting her campaign.

The coalition, called “Democrats/former Democrats for Kari Lake & America First,” was revealed after Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign announced its “Republicans for Harris” initiative, which held a press conference in Mesa, Arizona, and after Lake’s opponent for Senate, Rep. Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz., announced his “Republicans and Independents for Ruben” coalition.

Lake called on members of the press to give her event, which will be held Thursday, as much coverage as the events for Harris and Gallego.

“We ask that you give us equal coverage of our event coming Thursday. It’s called Democrats/former Democrats for Kari Lake & America First,” she continued. “Clear your schedule and we’ll let you know the time/place to meet us. I promise this will be eye-opening.”

Gallego announced on Sunday endorsements from 40 Republicans and independents, including officials and operatives who have shown support for other Democrats, in an effort to prove he has appeal across the aisle as he seeks to defeat Lake in November, according to The Arizona Republic.

At least 10 of these supporters for Gallego have also endorsed Harris for president, the outlet noted.

Republicans for Harris, consisting of “Never Trumpers,” also officially launched on Sunday, in an initiative that features several former officials, including former Trump White House officials Stephanie Grisham and Olivia Troye, as Harris’ campaign looks to rebrand her more moderately ahead of November’s presidential election against former President Trump.

Lake and Gallego will also face off in the general election in November. Arizona’s open Senate seat, currently held by outgoing Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, is rated as “Lean Democratic” by non-partisan political handicapper the Cook Political Report.

Vice President Kamala Harris will hold a rally in Pennsylvania on Tuesday to announce her running mate.

This will be Harris’ first visit to Pennsylvania as the presumptive Democratic nominee for president, after formerly securing the nomination on Monday. The trip also marks her seventh visit to the commonwealth this year and the 17th since she was sworn in as vice president in 2021.

During the event, Harris will introduce her running mate, although it still remains unclear who that will be. She has reportedly narrowed her choice down to two candidates: Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.

The Harris campaign is touting enthusiasm in Pennsylvania, saying that more than 33,000 people have signed up to volunteer for the campaign in the commonwealth in just the last 15 days, according to a news release signed by Jack Doyle, Pennsylvania communications director. The campaign has nearly 300 staffers across 36 offices, including in swing counties like Erie, Luzerne, and Northampton. The campaign said it is also working to make inroads in historically Republican areas in Union, Lancaster and York counties.

The campaign also said that Harris is “barnstorming” Pennsylvania while former President Trump, her main opponent in November’s election, is “struggling to keep up.” It said Trump’s campaign “lags far behind in the infrastructure needed to win with just three offices in Pennsylvania” and has “shown he doesn’t want these voters.”

Trump survived an assassination at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13 and said he would return there for another rally in the future. He held a rally in Harrisburg last week.

The vice president is looking to show a contrast between herself and the former president in Pennsylvania, with her campaign saying she is “fighting for our freedoms, democracy and an economy that provides everyone the opportunity to not just get by, but get ahead” while “Trump’s toxic Project 2025 agenda would take our country backward by enacting a national abortion ban, raising costs for the middle class, and giving Trump virtually unchecked power.”

Project 2025 is a controversial initiative organized by conservative think tank the Heritage Foundation that was authored by a number of conservatives, including some former Trump administration officials.

The initiative offers right-wing policy recommendations for Trump should he win the presidency, including replacing civil service employees with Trump loyalists, abolishing the Department of Education, criminalizing pornography, eliminating DEI programs, cutting funding for Medicaid and Medicare, rejecting abortion as health care and infusing the government with Christian values.

Trump has sought to distance himself from the initiative, which has been criticized as being an authoritarian and Christian nationalist plan that would undermine civil liberties, saying he knows nothing about it, that parts of it are “absolutely ridiculous and abysmal” and that its backers are on the “radical right.”

This is the first presidential election since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, giving states the power to make their own laws on abortion access. The Harris campaign cited polling showing that a majority of Pennsylvania voters support some abortion access.

“Vice President Harris will ensure women have the power to make decisions about their own bodies once again,” her campaign said in a news release. “That contrast will be front and center here” in Pennsylvania.

The Harris campaign also said the Trump administration killed more than 275,000 jobs in Pennsylvania, including thousands of manufacturing jobs, and oversaw record-high unemployment.

It said Harris and President Biden inherited an economy “left in shambles” by Trump but that she helped create more than half a million jobs in Pennsylvania and capped prescription drug costs for millions of Pennsylvania residents on Medicare.

Touting her previous experience as a prosecutor in California, Harris’ campaign said she is committed to keeping communities safe and locking up dangerous crooks, criminals and predators. The campaign said the murder rate in Pennsylvania, particularly Philadelphia, soared during the Trump administration while Harris “has taken on the gun lobby and helped bring a historic drop in violent crime.”

“If Trump gets a second term, he will once again cozy up to the NRA and make it easier for weapons to get into the hands of convicted criminals,” the campaign said in the news release.

The campaign also highlighted the electoral losses Trump and his endorsed candidates have suffered in Pennsylvania in 2018, 2020 and 2022. The campaign pointed to Trump’s loss to Biden in 2020, as well as Republican Mehmet Oz’s 2022 loss to now-Democrat Sen. John Fetterman and Republican Doug Mastriano’s 2022 loss to now-Democrat Gov. Shapiro.

“Republicans, too, lost ground in every corner of the Commonwealth as reproductive freedom and protecting our democracy were front and center for voters,” the Harris campaign said in the news release. “And reasonable Republicans across the commonwealth continue to reject Trump, with more than 158,000 people voting against Trump in the Pennsylvania Republican primary, nearly two months after Nikki Haley dropped out of the race.”

Key Republican and Democrat nomination contests will set the table for this autumn’s battle for the House and Senate majorities as Michigan, Missouri, Kansas and Washington state hold primary elections on Tuesday.

Among the contests taking top billing is the Michigan race to succeed retiring longtime Democrat Sen. Debbie Stabenow. The seat is one of a handful in key battleground states that the GOP is aiming to flip as it works to win back control of the Senate it lost in the 2020 elections.

Former Rep. Mike Rogers, a one-time FBI special agent who later served as chair of the House Intelligence Committee during his tenure in Congress, enjoys the backing of former President Trump, the GOP’s presidential nominee, as well as support from the National Republican Senatorial Committee, which is the Senate GOP’s campaign arm.

Rogers is considered the clear front-runner in a field that also includes former Rep. Justin Amash, and physician Sherry O’Donnell. 

Rep. Elissa Slotkin is the clear front-runner for the Democratic Party’s Senate nomination in a race that also includes actor and Detroit small business owner Hill Harper.

In the race to succeed Slotkin in the Lansing-area swing seat in Michigan’s 7th Congressional District are Democrat Curtis Hertel and Republican Tom Barrett, two former state senators who are uncontested as they seek their party’s nominations.

Other Michigan congressional seats that could decide control of the U.S. House – where Republicans currently hold a razor-thin majority – are in the 3rd, 8th and 10th districts, all of which have contested primaries on Tuesday.

In Missouri, conservative Sen. Josh Hawley is unopposed in the GOP primary as he runs for re-election. The winner of the Democratic primary, which includes 2022 nominee Lucas Kunce, will face a steep uphill climb against Hawley in November.

But the primary in Missouri that’s grabbing plenty of national attention is the Democrati nomination battle in the St. Louis-area 1st Congressional District. That’s where Rep. Cori Bush, a member of the so-called “Squad” of diverse progressives, is facing a challenge from St. Louis county prosecuting attorney Wesley Bell in a primary that’s seen more than $15 million in outside spending.

A key issue in the race is Bush’s criticism of how Israel is handling its war against Hamas in the densely populated Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, in the GOP nomination race to succeed term-limited Republican Gov. Mike Parson, Trump has endorsed three of the nine candidates in the primary field: Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft, Mike Kehoe and Air Force veteran and state Sen. Bill Eigel.

In Kansas, Democrats and Republicans are holding primaries in the race to succeed retiring GOP Rep. Jake LaTurner in the 2nd Congressional District, which covers much of the eastern part of the state, including parts of metropolitan Kansas City.

In the overwhelmingly urban 3rd Congressional District, two Republicans are vying to challenge three-term Rep. Sharice Davids, the only Democrat in the Kansas congressional delegation.

In Washington state, Democrat Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez is running for re-election to a second term in a seat she flipped blue two years ago. She goes before voters in an all-party primary that also includes Republican Joe Kent, the Trump supporter she defeated in 2022. In Washington, the top two vote getters in the primary face off in November.

There are also primaries in the races to succeed retiring Democrat Rep. Derek Kilmer and Republican Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers.

In the race for governor, nearly 30 candidates are vying to succeed retiring three-term Democrat Gov. Jay Inslee.

President Biden referred to Vice President Harris as “president” at least five times throughout his term, according to a new Fox News Digital analysis. 

Harris, who was propped up as the likely Democratic nominee after Biden dropped out of the 2024 race, recently appeared to mix up her own title while delivering a eulogy for late Democrat Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Texas, on Thursday. 

“It was Sheila Jackson Lee whose bill made Juneteenth a federal holiday. Which, as a United States senator, I was proud to co-sponsor. And then as president – as vice president …“ Harris said, quickly correcting herself, adding “with the president, with the president.”

Before withdrawing his candidacy, Biden had made the same slip of the tongue on several occasions over the years.

In March 2021, Biden referred to his counterpart as the “president” while speaking about the COVID-19 vaccine.

“Now, when President Harris and I took a virtual tour of a vaccination center in Arizona not long ago, one of the nurses on that, on that tour injecting people, giving vaccinations, said that each shot was like administering a dose of hope,” Biden said.

While delivering a speech at South Carolina State University later in 2021, Biden said that “President Harris is a proud Howard alum.”

Biden made a similar gaffe while speaking in Georgia.

“Last week, President Harris and I stood in the United States Capitol to observe one of those before-and-after moments in American history: the January 6 insurrection on the citadel of our democracy,” the president said in January 2022.

Later in October 2022, Biden wished Harris “happy birthday to a great president” during an event at the White House.

Biden later used the same term to describe the vice president while delivering remarks on immigration.

“President Harris led this effort — led this effort to make things better in the countries from which they are leaving,” Biden said at the White House in March 2023.

Harris is expected to be nominated as the official Democrat nominee at the party’s upcoming national convention in August. 

Efforts to reach the White House for comment were unsuccessful at press time. 

The Supreme Court denied a motion to step in and rule on a lawsuit brought by the state of Missouri that attempted to temporarily block legal proceedings in the case of New York vs. former President Trump.

Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas said they would have granted the state’s request to file a bill of complaint but would not grant the other relief the state was seeking.

Legal surrogate and attorney for President Donald Trump, David Gelman, said, “It was a Hail Mary effort by the Missouri AG to get [the Supreme Court] to block the legal proceedings. That’s called thinking outside of the box.”

“This still doesn’t mean the sentencing will happen in September and if it does, it will be appealed faster than the Democrats dropping Biden,” he said.

The claim was filed by Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey, who is a Republican seeking a full term in the seat this fall.

“It’s disappointing that the Supreme Court refused to exercise its constitutional responsibility to resolve state v. state disputes,” Bailey said in a post on X. “I will continue to prosecute our lawsuit against @KamalaHarris @JoeBiden’s DOJ for coordinating the illicit prosecutions against President Trump.”

Trump was found guilty by a New York jury in May of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records.

“The investigations and subsequent prosecutions of former President Donald J. Trump appear to have been conducted in coordination with the United States Department of Justice,” Bailey alleges, adding that he believes that allegation is demonstrated in part by the move of the third-highest ranking DOJ official, Matthew Colangelo, to the Manhattan DA’s office to help prosecute the criminal case, N.Y. v. Trump.  

In addition, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg worked alongside New York Attorney General Letitia James in pursuing civil litigation against Trump, using that experience as a springboard from which to campaign for his current position, Bailey had noted.

Bailey argued that Bragg’s decision to bring the prosecution “despite its transparent weakness has nonetheless had the effect of keeping former President Trump off the campaign trail, which President Biden has bragged about.”

“Given the timing (Bragg charged Trump only after Trump declared his candidacy for President), the transparent weakness of the charges, and the effect the charges have in keeping Trump off the campaign trail, there is substantial reason to suspect the Biden administration has coordinated with Bragg and others to bring prosecutions against Trump,” Bailey had claimed.

Two vulnerable Senate Democrats won’t yet commit to campaigning with presumptive Democrat nominee Vice President Harris as they face re-election in states won by former President Trump last cycle.

Harris became the likely 2024 nominee after President Biden dropped out of the race in late July. While most of the Democrat Party is rallying behind Harris, Democrats in predominantly red states appear more hesitant to jump on board with the new-look ticket.

Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, running in one of the Democrats’ most vulnerable Senate races of the 2024 cycle, avoided saying whether he would campaign with Harris. 

“I’ve got my own schedule,” Brown told CNN when asked about campaigning with likely nominee Harris. “She’s got her own schedule. I will focus on my race. My strategy is perhaps different from hers.”

“My job is to fight for Ohio workers. You can talk about the presidential race. That’s your job … I know that what will matter is people vote for me because I stand up for workers and will continue to fight for workers.”

Brown also suggested that he might not attend the upcoming Democratic National Convention, where Harris is expected to become the party’s official nominee.

“I often skip conventions,” Brown told the outlet.

Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mt., who was reportedly directly involved in recruiting Harris to the Senate in 2015 as then-chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, similarly said that he is focusing on his race in Montana.

“We’re working on my race right now – focused totally on that. Believe it or not, I am, and we’re going to win,” Tester told the Washington Examiner. “We’ll deal with the presidential race when we have time to do that. I’m also dealing with the defense bill that’s pretty damn important.”

Tester, who is yet to endorse Harris for the Democrat nomination, has said that he would support an open nomination process to select a new nominee.

“We run our own race,” Tester said when asked if Harris could impact the Montana Senate race. “I develop my own enthusiasm.”

Sen. Jackie Rosen, D-Nev., is also running to protect her seat. Asked by Fox News Digital if she will be campaigning with Harris this cycle, the senator’s campaign did not respond.

“Jon Tester and Sherrod Brown both voted with Kamala Harris 100% of the time, so they own her record whether or not they want to campaign with her,” National Republican Senatorial Committee spokesperson Maggie Abboud told Fox News Digital in a statement. “A vote for Harris, Brown, and Tester is a vote to decriminalize border crossings, defund the police, and ban fracking.”

Vice President Kamala Harris is now formally the Democratic Party’s 2024 presidential nominee.

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) announced the news on Monday, following the conclusion of a five-day virtual roll call of pledged delegates to the party’s national convention, which kicks off in two weeks in Chicago.

The securing of the nomination comes hours before Harris is expected to announce her choice for running mate. The vice president and her to-be-announced running mate kick off a seven-battleground state swing Tuesday evening with a rally in Philadelphia.

Monday’s formal winning of the nomination came three days after Harris secured the votes of a majority of pledged delegates.

“I am so proud to confirm that Vice President Harris has earned more than a majority of votes from all convention delegates and will be the nominee of the Democratic Party following the close of voting on Monday,” DNC chair Jaime Harrison said in a statement on Friday.

Harris, on a call Friday with supporters, said, “I am honored to be the presumptive Democratic nominee for President of the United States.”

The nomination of Harris was never in doubt, as the vice president was the only candidate to qualify for the presidential nomination roll call. But it marks an historic milestone in the nation’s history, as Harris becomes the first woman of color to lead a major political party’s national ticket.

While the official nomination vote by the delegates was held remotely, the DNC said a ceremonial roll call will be held at the Democratic National Convention, which is set to kick off Aug. 19 in Chicago.

Harris’ formal winning of the nomination comes two weeks and one day after President Biden’s blockbuster announcement that he was ending his 2024 re-election campaign against former President Trump, the GOP’s nominee.

Biden’s stunning news came amid mounting pressure from within the Democratic Party for him to drop out after a disastrous performance in last month’s first presidential debate with Trump. The 81-year-old Biden’s halting and stumbling delivery fueled questions about his physical and mental abilities to serve another four years in the White House.

But Biden’s immediate backing of Harris ignited a surge of endorsements for the vice president by Democratic governors, senators, House members and other party leaders. Within 36 hours, Harris announced that she had locked up her party’s nomination by landing the verbal backing of a majority of the nearly 4,000 convention delegates.

With the presidential nomination virtual roll call now concluded, DNC rules allow for Harris to place the name of her running mate into nomination. 

According to the DNC, the convention chair would then declare that candidate to be the party’s vice presidential nominee.

Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., appeared on “Jesse Watters Primetime” on Monday night to reveal new claims regarding the assassination attempt against former President Trump last month.

Hawley told host Jesse Watters that he had spoken with whistleblowers who provided him with information about the U.S. Secret Service (USSS) lead site agent at the Butler, Pennsylvania, rally on July 13.

In the middle of the rally, gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks shot Trump from a sloped roof, hitting him in the ear and killing one attendee. The 20-year-old had also injured two others before he was killed by Secret Service agents.

The incident has led both Republicans and Democrats to intensely scrutinize the Secret Service in recent weeks. On “Jesse Watters Primetime,” Hawley claimed that the lead site agent was known to be inexperienced and “incompetent.”

“The site agent, the lead agent, was known to the Trump campaign to be inexperienced, to be ineffectual, to be, frankly, incompetent at their job,” Hawley said. “I’m also told by whistleblowers that on that day, she was not enforcing the normal security protocols.”

“She was not checking people’s IDs. She did not use Secret Service agents,” Hawley added. “Most of the agents there that day were not Secret Service agents. They were Homeland Security agents.”

The Missouri senator also claimed that some Secret Service agents are unhappy with how the agency has handled the shooting.

“Whistleblowers are coming forward from the Secret Service because they can’t believe what leadership is doing,” Hawley said. “They cannot believe that Secret Service is not taking action to clear out the rot.”

“Frankly, they’re scared to death [that] this is going to happen again. We can’t let it happen again. We’ve got to get the facts,” the Republican concluded.

Shortly after the interview, Hawley made an X post about a scathing letter he had sent to Secret Service acting director Ronald L. Rowe on Monday. In the letter, Hawley demanded to know why the lead site agent was assigned to the rally and why certain protocols were not followed.

“I urge you to suspend the lead site agent from all Secret Service duties immediately while these claims are investigated,” Hawley wrote.

EXCLUSIVE: Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., is embarking on a 20-state tour this month to campaign for House Republicans and GOP candidates across the country, Fox News Digital has learned, in a bid to keep hold of his majority in November.

Johnson will be visiting key districts in Wisconsin, Arizona, Ohio, Montana, Colorado, New Mexico, Virginia, Connecticut and other states to meet with candidates and fundraise. 

Republicans have been rushing to recalibrate after President Biden dropped out of the White House race just two weeks ago, effectively anointing Vice President Kamala Harris as his successor.

Harris is now set to embark on her own battleground state blitz beginning with Pennsylvania on Tuesday and including Wisconsin, Michigan, North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona and Nevada. She’s expected to reveal her chosen running mate sometime before Tuesday’s event in Philadelphia.

“House Republicans are on offense to grow our majority from coast to coast. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris wrecked our economy, opened our border, and invited chaos and wars around the world,” Johnson told Fox News Digital.

“I look forward to meeting with Americans across our country and contrasting Harris’ disastrous and radical record with common sense, pro-growth, and America First policies that Republicans will reinstate when we grow the majority, flip the Senate, and win the White House.”

The 2024 election cycle is in its final sprint with roughly three months left until Election Day. 

Johnson has proven to be a potent fundraiser for the House GOP, bringing in more than $18.5 million for his conference’s campaign arm, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), since he became speaker in October.

The speaker is using part of his August tour to bolster his frontline lawmakers, with a stop planned this week in Virginia’s 2nd Congressional District with Rep. Jen Kiggans, R-Va.

He’s also planning visits in blue states where a handful of swing seats in California, New York, New Jersey were critical to the GOP wrestling control of the House from Democrats in November 2021.

This week, Johnson will also be in Maine’s 2nd Congressional District for the opening of a new NRCC battle station, a program rolled out earlier this year to give campaigns in key districts more on-the-ground resources. There, Republicans hope to unseat moderate Democrat Rep. Jared Golden.

It comes as Democrats are enjoying a new surge of enthusiasm over Harris after 81-year-old Biden ducked out of the race.

The former California senator’s campaign announced it raised a record-breaking $310 million in July alone, with $200 million coming in the first week following Biden stepping aside.

But Johnson and other Republicans have continued to project confidence, insisting that Harris is an equal owner of the Biden administration’s progressive agenda.

The speaker told Fox News Digital at the Republican National Convention (RNC) last month, days before Biden’s announcement, that it did not matter who was at the top of Democrats’ ticket.

“As President Trump has said, he was, they had sort of prepared in the mindset that they would run against Biden, but it doesn’t matter. I mean, if they put Kamala Harris at the top of the ticket, she’s the co-owner of all the policies. It’s not any better,” Johnson said in Milwaukee.

“It doesn’t matter who they run. Anybody that they would put in that place. This election is not about personalities — it’s about policies and what it means to people.”

Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mont., is skipping the Democratic National Convention in Chicago this month when the party will rally around Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic presidential nominee, opting to stay in Montana ahead of a tight race to keep his Senate seat. 

A spokesperson for the longtime Montana Democrat told Fox News Digital that Tester “plans to spend his August farming and meeting face to face with Montanans.”

Harris, who formally became the Democratic nominee for president last week, has yet to receive Tester’s endorsement.

When asked about a potential endorsement last week, he told Fox News’ Kelly Phares, “We’re working on my race right now, focused totally on that.”

“We’re going to win. And we’ll deal with the presidential race when we have time to do that,” he said. 

Despite his reluctance to get behind Harris, Tester reportedly had a direct role in pushing her to first run for Senate in 2016. Tester, who was chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) at the time, recruited and encouraged the now-vice president to run for Senate in California, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Tester’s decision not to attend the DNC comes after Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, who is in a similarly vulnerable position in his race, revealed he wouldn’t be going to the convention in a recent interview. “I’m not going to the convention. I often skip conventions,” he told CNN. 

Both Tester and Brown’s races are rated as “Toss Ups” by non-partisan political handicapper the Cook Political Report. Races for Senate in Nevada and Michigan are also in the category.

The two incumbent Democrats also each officially called on President Biden to step aside last month, contributing to the pressure that ultimately pushed him to end his campaign. 

Fellow vulnerable Democratic Sens. Jacky Rosen of Nevada, Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin, and Bob Casey of Pennsylvania, did not provide comment to Fox News Digital when asked if they would attend the DNC.

The apparent lack of interest or enthusiasm to attend the DNC is in stark contrast with their Republican opponents and the Republican National Convention, which took place last month. 

Republican candidates, including former Navy SEAL Tim Sheehy, running in Montana, retired Army Captain Sam Brown, running in Nevada, veteran Dave McCormick, running in Pennsylvania, former Rep. Mike Rogers, running in Michigan, and businessman Eric Hovde, running in Wisconsin, all attended the RNC. Each man also delivered remarks at the convention.

President Biden and Democrats are looking to beat former President Trump’s judicial record and confirm more than the 234 federal judges that his predecessor managed to appoint, even with severely limited time to do so by the end of his term. 

“Since Democrats took back the White House and the Senate majority in January 2021, we have been committed to advancing highly qualified nominations to lifetime appointments across the federal judiciary who are reflective of the lived experiences of America. The seven nominees we voted on today are no different. The Committee will continue to restore balance to the federal courts,” said Senate Judiciary Chairman Dick Durbin, D-Ill., in a statement last week after seven nominees were advanced out of committee.

So far, Democrats have succeeded in confirming 205 of Biden’s judicial nominees, matching the 205 judges Trump confirmed at that point in his term.

“If Democrats lose the White House, there will be a lot of pressure on Senator Schumer to confirm as many judicial nominees as possible to help cement President Biden’s legacy on this issue,” said Ron Bonjean, a former spokesman for former Sen. Trent Lott, R-Miss., and former chief of staff of the Senate Republican Conference. 

“Without much legislative success, especially over the last two years, this will be especially important to Biden to showcase an accomplishment,” Bonjean, who also ran communications for the Senate confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch, added. 

“This could be much more of a standard operating procedure if Washington continues to remain gridlocked in the future.”

Mike Davis, the former chief counsel for nominations to former Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, noted that Trump’s “transformation of the Supreme Court to the first constitutionalist majority in 90 years, along with the appointment of a near-record number of critically important lower-court judges,” was his “biggest and most consequential accomplishment.”

He predicted that “President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris will exceed that number with their appointments of radical judges, and a President Kamala Harris will appoint radical leftists to take control of the Supreme Court.”

According to Carrie Severino, the president of the Judicial Crisis Network, “I’m sure Biden’s going to do everything he can to get as many judges confirmed as possible, in part just because he’s desperately trying to salvage his legacy overall.”

She pointed out that Biden hasn’t been able to rack up the same number of circuit and Supreme Court nominations as Trump, despite his efforts.  

“It’s clear both just, quantitatively in terms of the objective things like, Supreme Court versus district court for appellate court nominations, Trump actually had better nominations to fill or better vacancies to fill,” she said.

Both Trump and Biden have significantly outpaced previous presidents when it comes to judicial appointments. Trump notably appointed nearly the same number of appellate judges as former President Obama in only half the time. 

In a statement celebrating his 200th appointment in May, Biden said, “Judges matter. These men and women have the power to uphold basic rights or to roll them back.”

He previewed his goal of continuing to see his nominations advanced in what little time left the Senate had. “Going forward, I will continue my solemn responsibility of nominating individuals who have excelled in their professional careers, who reflect the communities they serve, and who apply the law impartially and without favoritism,” he said. 

However, this may be a difficult task as the Senate is in recess for all of August and all of October ahead of the November general elections. When the lawmakers are in session, they will have to juggle the nominations with important pieces of legislation such as the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) and the annual appropriations bills. 

Former President Trump’s tight race with VP Harris is bringing Georgia – a historically red state-turned-blue – back to the forefront this election cycle as the two candidates are “neck and neck” in the Peach State’s polls. 

And Trump’s rhetoric could swing the state one way or another, according to experts. In the 2020 presidential election, it was assumed Georgia was reliably Republican, as it had been for more than four decades. However, not only did Trump lose, but the state also saw two Senate losses for Republicans, which decided Senate control.

“They’re neck and neck in Georgia,” Tevi Troy, presidential historian and former deputy secretary of Health and Human Services in the George W. Bush administration, told Fox News Digital. “In 2020, we were still operating under the assumption that Georgia was Republican territory as it had been pretty reliable for a long time, and then not only did Trump lose, but then you had those two Senate losses that came right after the election in January that determined the control in the Senate.”

“I think some of the defeat stems from Trump’s behavior in that period. So, I think he has to be careful about what he says and how he approaches Georgia, because in the neck-and-neck state, if you alienate the state, that could make an impact,” he said.

Georgia’s electorate includes a mix of traditional rural voters, who have historically supported Republicans, and a newer demographic of wealthier, educated voters often leaning Democrat, particularly in the Atlanta suburbs.

Additionally, Troy noted, Black voters make up a significant portion of the electorate, which has traditionally leaned heavily Democrat. Recent indications suggest Trump is performing somewhat better among Black voters, especially Black men, which could impact the overall voting dynamics if he can reduce the Democrat dominance in this group, he added.

Georgia-based radio host Erick Erickson, also a former councilmember in Macron, told Fox News Digital, “Over 30,000 people refused to vote for Trump in Georgia in 2020, and he lost by about 12,000 votes.”

“All he’s doing is reminding everyone why they don’t like him,” Erickson said. “And he has no Georgia ground game and will have to rely on Kemp. It’s going to hurt him.”

But old tensions resurfaced between Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, a Republican, and the former president during Trump’s rally in Atlanta over the weekend, when Trump criticized Kemp for refusing to overturn the 2020 election results. 

The governor responded by suggesting Trump should focus on winning in November and refrain from “petty personal insults, attacking fellow Republicans or dwelling on the past.”

Meanwhile, Harris also headlined a rally in Atlanta last week when she stood in front of roughly 10,000 attendees – the largest for this cycle for the Democratic Party’s national ticket – which featured a performance by hip-hop star Megan Thee Stallion.

A clip of Vice President Kamala Harris from 2017 calling on “everybody” to be “woke” resurfaced on social media, sparking critics and conservatives to lambaste the official Democratic nominee as a “Communist functionary” who is “too radical” to serve as president. 

“We have to stay woke. Like everybody needs to be woke. And you can talk about if you’re the wokest or woker, but just stay more woke than less woke,” then-Sen. Harris said in 2017 during Recode’s annual Code Conference, alongside philanthropist Laurene Powell Jobs, the widow of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, during the conference. 

The conference focused on issues such as immigration and the environment, including Harris speaking out against the Trump administration’s drug policies and immigration polices just moments ahead of her call on Americans to be “woke.” 

“I get upset when we say we’re going to shut our door to refugees who are fleeing such atrocities and have been standing in line for two years to qualify for refugee status, and they arrive here, and we turn them away. Yes, I’m gonna get mad about that. I’m gonna get mad when we have an attorney general who’s trying to resuscitate the war on drugs. And he thinks the greatest evil that mankind has ever seen is marijuana. … Leave grandma’s medical marijuana alone,” Harris said.

Harris doubled down on her comment in a message posted to X a day later, which read: “We have to stay active. We have to stay woke.” 

The use of the word “woke” grew in popularity in 2017, when dictionaries such as Oxford and Merriam-Webster added the phrase to their lexicons, defining it as people who are attentive to issues such as social justice. It has since become a catch-all word for left-wing issues and agendas.

Seven years after Harris joined the 2017 conference, critics on social media are lambasting the presumptive Democratic nominee over the clip, including conservative author James Lindsay describing Harris as a “Communist functionary.” 

“Kamala is a low-level Communist functionary, and I’m tired of being told we have to pretend she’s not,” he wrote.

Fox News Digital reached out to the Harris campaign for comment on the clip and criticism, but did not immediately receive a reply. 

The clip comes after President Biden dropped out of the 2024 presidential race late last month, which was shortly followed by him endorsing his vice president to pursue winning the White House in his place. Harris officially clinched her party’s 2024 presidential nomination on Friday, earning more than a majority of votes from convention delegates, the DNC reported.

Harris now has fewer than 100 days ahead of Nov. 5 to court voters ahead of facing off against former President Donald Trump at the polls. As Harris builds up her campaign, critics have unearthed a bevy of news articles and video clips of the presumptive Democratic nominee, such as her voicing support to the defund the police movement in 2020, and her praise of a pastor who blamed the U.S. for the 9/11 attacks.

Vice President Kamala Harris is placing her experience as a “top cop” front and center as she looks to “prosecute” her GOP opponent and press her case for why she should win the presidency in November – but the legal career she’s leaning on is “devoid” of achievement, critics say, and she owes much of her success to networking.

Her nearly three-decade rise up the ranks has included numerous bumps along the way – including failing her bar exam on the first try in 1989.

Civil rights attorney Leo Terrell, who passed the California bar the same year on his first try, described Harris as a “political opportunist” who was in “the right position, the right place” at the right time.
