President Biden is set to propose several changes to the U.S. Constitution on Monday to make good on his promise to reform the Supreme Court, according to a report.

In a reversal from the president’s longstanding resistance to changes to the high court, Biden said on Wednesday that Supreme Court reform would be among his top priorities for the remainder of his term in office. Biden announced Sunday that he would not seek re-election after mounting pressure from Democratic Party officials who asked him to step aside after his widely panned debate performance in June.

The president is expected to propose setting term limits for justices on the Supreme Court, which would require a constitutional amendment, and establishing an enforceable code of ethics, which could be enacted by Congress, Politico reported.

BIDEN TO ANNOUNCE SUPPORT FOR MAJOR CHANGES TO SUPREME COURT AMID OUTRAGE OVER RECENT DECISIONS: REPORT

President Joe Biden addresses the nation from the Oval Office

Biden is also likely to voice support for a constitutional amendment that would limit immunity for presidents and certain other officeholders after the court ruled in July that presidents cannot be prosecuted for “official acts” during their time in office. The court’s ruling stemmed from a case concerning former President Trump.

The framers of the Constitution intentionally made it difficult to amend. A two-thirds majority of both the House and the Senate needs to pass any proposed amendment, which is then sent to the states for ratification. It must be approved by three-fourths — 38 — of the 50 states to become the supreme law of the land.

“This decision today has continued the court’s attack in recent years on a wide range of long-established legal principles in our nation, from gutting voting rights and civil rights to taking away a woman’s right to choose, to today’s decision that undermines the rule of law of this nation,” Biden said in public remarks after the court handed down its opinion.

Politico reported the specifics of the proposal have not been finalized and could still change. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Biden said Supreme Court reform is “critical to our democracy” in an Oval Office address Wednesday explaining his decision to drop out of the 2024 election.

“Over the next six months, I’ll be focused on doing my job as president. That means I’ll continue to lower costs for hard-working families, grow our economy. I’ll keep defending our personal freedoms and our civil rights, from the right to vote to the right to choose. I’ll keep calling out hate and extremism, make it clear there is no place, no place in America for political violence or any violence ever, period. I’m going to keep speaking out to protect our kids from gun violence, our planet from climate crisis, is the existential threat,” Biden said.

DOJ settles with former FBI officials over release of anti-Trump text messages

The Department of Justice has settled with two former FBI officials over violation of privacy rights.

Former counterintelligence agent Peter Strzok and FBI lawyer Lisa Page filed suit against the Justice Department over the release of their text message conversations expressing contempt for former President Donald Trump.

According to court documents reviewed by the Associated Press, Strzok settled his case for $1.2 million, while Page received $800,000.

DOJ REACHES SETTLEMENT WITH EX-FBI ‘LOVEBIRDS’ CAUGHT IN ANTI-TRUMP TEXT SCANDAL

In 2019, Strzok argued in a court filing in Washington, D.C., federal district court that his politically charged anti-Trump messages were protected by the First Amendment even though he sent them on bureau-issued phones while playing leading roles in the probes into both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.

Strzok, once the FBI’s head of counterintelligence, said he was entitled to “develop a full factual record through discovery,” and that it would be premature to dismiss the case at this early stage. He went on to argue that the DOJ’s position would “leave thousands of career federal government employees without protections from discipline over the content of their political speech.”

“This outcome is a critical step forward in addressing the government’s unfair and highly politicized treatment of Pete,” said lawyer Aitan Goelam, who is representing Strzok.

Goelam continued, “As important as it is for him, it also vindicates the privacy interests of all government employees. We will continue to litigate Pete’s constitutional claims to ensure that, in the future, public servants are protected from adverse employment actions motivated by partisan politics.”

Page also filed suit against the FBI and Department of Justice, alleging the government’s publication of her salacious text messages with Strzok constituted a breach of the Federal Privacy Act.

“While I have been vindicated by this result, my fervent hope remains that our institutions of justice will never again play politics with the lives of their employees,” Page said in a statement.

Page’s complaint also sought reimbursement for “the cost of childcare during and transportation to multiple investigative reviews and appearances before Congress,” the “cost of paying a data-privacy service to protect her personal information” and attorney’s fees.

Pennsylvania Dem issues warning to Harris about potential Josh Shapiro VP pick

A Democrat seeking statewide office in Pennsylvania is not a fan of Gov. Josh Shapiro and has warned Vice President Kamala Harris that she should look elsewhere for a running mate.

Erin McClelland, a candidate for treasurer, endorsed North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper to be the Democratic nominee for vice president over her governor in social media posts that alluded to criticisms of Shapiro.

“I want a VP pick that’s secure enough to be second under a woman, is content to be VP & won’t undermine the President to maneuver his own election & doesn’t sweep sexual harassment under the rug,” McClelland wrote on X. “I want someone that can speak to rural voters. That is [Roy Cooper].”

Her social media post appeared to reference a sexual harassment scandal that rocked Shapiro’s office last year. A former top aide to the governor, Mike Vereb, was accused of sexual harassment by a female subordinate. The governor’s office reached a $295,000 settlement with the accuser. However, Vereb did not resign until six months after a complaint was filed, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

Pennsylvania lawmakers heavily criticized Shapiro for his handling of the scandal and Republicans questioned why Vereb was permitted to remain in his position for months after the accuser came forward.

McClelland’s comments resurrecting the scandal provoked blowback from Pennsylvania Democratic Party Chairman Sharif Street and other party officials who support the governor. Shapiro, 51, is seen as a rising star in the Democratic Party: a fresh face with a 61% favorability rating, according to a Fox News poll of battleground Pennsylvania, where 19 Electoral College votes are at stake in November.

“Look, everybody’s entitled to their opinion,” Street told reporters Wednesday during a news conference. “Certainly, I think, Vice President Harris, whoever she picks, we’re going to stand behind her, she’s going to do a great job.”

“But, I’ll tell you, I’m offended by that… by the post,” Street added. “I’m personally offended, and I’ll have conversations with our nominee for Treasurer, separately.”

McClelland and Shapiro’s office did not respond to requests for comment.

The treasury candidate remained unapologetic for her comments and doubled down on her thinly-veiled criticisms of Shapiro in an interview with the New York Post.

“If I were in [Harris’] situation, I would think very strongly about the difficulties that some women experience being in a top-level position, and having men around them that have to be satisfied with being second, third or answering to a woman,” she told the outlet.

McClelland also said she has not spoken with Street since the controversy over her post but believes their relationship will be “fine.”

“Someone is offended by a woman with a strong opinion. Color me thunderstruck,” she told the Post.

McClelland was quick to add though that she would support the Democratic ticket regardless of who is nominated for vice president, but praised Cooper as the best choice.

The North Carolina governor “seems very comfortable in his own skin and does not seem to have very strong ambitions to be president,” McClelland said.

“I don’t think that he would undercut” Harris, she added. “He’s good on public education, which is an issue that’s important to me.”

The New York Post observed that Shapiro has come under fire from the left for his support for school choice in Pennsylvania. But he’s lost support from Republicans too after he reversed his position on a school choice bill, which he previously supported.

Trump greets Netanyahu at Mar-a-Lago, says World War III could happen if Harris wins

Former President Trump claimed Friday that conflicts in the Middle East could escalate into a third World War if he loses the 2024 election.

The Republican nominee for president made those remarks as he met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort home. Netanyahu traveled to Florida to meet with Trump after meeting with President Biden and the presumptive Democratic nominee, Vice President Kamala Harris, in Washington, D.C., earlier this week, following his address Wednesday to a joint session of Congress.

At Mar-a-Lago, Trump told reporters Harris is “worse” on Middle East issues and claimed Israel’s war with Hamas in Gaza could expand into a wider regional conflict if she succeeds Biden, who announced Sunday he would not seek re-election.

“We’ll see how it goes. But if it all works out, if we win, it’ll be very simple. It’s all going to work out. And very quickly,” Trump said. “If we don’t, you’re going to end up with major wars in the Middle East. And maybe a third World War. You are closer to a third World War right now than at any time since the Second World War. We’ve never been so close because we have incompetent people running the country.”

Trump’s remarks come amid a reported diplomatic flare-up between Harris and Netanyahu, which occurred after their meeting Thursday.

In comments after the meeting, Harris said she told the Israeli prime minister she “will always ensure that Israel is able to defend itself, including from Iran and Iran-backed militias such as Hamas and Hezbollah.”

“I also expressed with the prime minister my serious concern about the scale of human suffering in Gaza, including the death of far too many innocent civilians. And I made clear my serious concern about the dire humanitarian situation there,” she added, calling for an end to the war and the release of all hostages held in Hamas captivity.

Harris’ criticisms of Israel’s conduct in the Gaza war reportedly irked Netanyahu, according to Axios. The prime minister has repeatedly said fighting must continue until Hamas is eliminated, even if hostages are released.

When asked about Harris’ comments Friday, Netanyahu told reporters Israel still hopes for a cease-fire deal.

“We’re trying to get one. And I think, to the extent that Hamas understands that there’s no daylight between Israel and the United States, that expedites the deal. And I hope that those comments don’t change that,” Netanyahu said.

The Mar-a-Lago meeting is the first face-to-face contact Netanyahu has had with Trump since the Republican nominee left the White House in 2020. Their relationship became strained when Netanyahu congratulated President-elect Biden on his victory that year, which prompted Trump to call out the Israeli leader.

“I haven’t spoken to him since,” Trump told Israeli journalist Barak Ravid that year. “F— him.”

Netanyahu is now making an effort to make amends and secure Trump’s support for Israel in the war against Gaza should the Republican candidate return to the White House after the November election.

In Trump’s home, the Israeli leader presented the former president with a photo of one of the Bibas toddlers, children still held captive by Hamas terrorists in Gaza.

Netanyahu said the picture was given to him by the toddlers’ grandfather, who asked him to share it with Trump.

“Wow, that’s very moving,” Trump said, accepting the photograph. “We’ll get that taken care of.”

Earlier, protesters gathered in West Palm Beach, Florida, to greet Netanyahu as his plane landed. The prime minister’s visit to the nation’s capital this week also sparked demonstrations that featured antisemitic slogans, calls for Israel’s eradication, vandalism and heated confrontations with D.C. police.

In his address to Congress, Netanyahu accused Iran of funding the protests and tore into the demonstrators, who have demanded an immediate cease-fire between Israel and Hamas.

Giffords group to spend $15 million to support Harris and anti-gun candidates

Gun control activists are ramping up spending to elect presumptive Democratic nominee Kamala Harris president and help Democrats capture the House of Representatives in November.

GIFFORDS, a gun violence prevention group founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, on Friday announced a $15 million campaign targeting battleground state voters. The ad buy is for television, digital advertising and direct mail, as well as for sending Giffords and surrogates to stump for Harris and down-ballot candidates who support tougher gun laws.

“With just over 100 days until election day, GIFFORDS will redouble its efforts to support champions who are committed to saving lives — including ensuring that Vice President Kamala Harris becomes the next president of the United States,” said Emma Brown, executive director for GIFFORDS.

The multi-million dollar campaign will focus on swing states like Michigan and Arizona for the presidential election, and swing congressional districts in California and New York, which could determine control of the House of Representatives next year, NBC News first reported.

“Across the country, Americans are crystal clear: they want elected leaders who stand up to the gun lobby and put public safety first,” said Brown.

GIFFORDS pointed to internal polling conducted in June that found 70% of American voters in battleground districts are “extremely” or “very” concerned about gun violence. The group argues that key groups of voters — particularly women, Latino and Black Americans — strongly support tougher gun laws and will make the difference in close races if motivated to get to the polls.

“This year is critically important, and we look forward to supporting allies committed to preventing gun violence at every level of government — from the state legislative level to Congress, and giving Vice President Harris effective governing partners when she wins in November,” Brown said.

A Fox News poll conducted in June found that 45% of Americans ranked guns as an “extremely important” issue, making it the 7th most “extremely important” to voters out of a list of 10 issues. The highest-ranked issues were “Future of American democracy” (68%), “Economy” (66%) and “Stability and normalcy” (58%).

NRA DIGS UP HISTORY TO PUSH BACK ON KAMALA HARRIS’ CLAIM ON ‘ASSAULT’ BAN

Gabrielle Giffords

Erich Pratt, the senior vice president for Gun Owners of America, a Second Amendment group, cast doubt on the contention that gun control is a motivating issue for large swathes of voters.

“It’s undeniable that the policies of Kamala Harris and this administration are responsible for the crime crisis our nation currently faces. Threatened confiscation of common self-defense firearms, coupled with soft on crime officials at the state and local levels in major urban centers across the country, have not helped Americans feel safe,” Pratt told Fox News Digital in a statement.

“If groups like GIFFORDS really cared about reducing violence, they’d be urging Harris, a former prosecutor herself, to mobilize U.S. attorneys offices against violent criminals. But instead, they would prefer to push unconstitutional disarmament that leaves everyday Americans defenseless. That won’t play well with swing state voters.”

Gabrielle Giffords, a former Democratic representative from Arizona, was grievously wounded in a 2011 assassination attempt when a gunman shot her in the head at an event in her district. The former congresswoman co-founded her eponymous group a decade ago to “end the gun lobby’s stranglehold on our political system,” according to the GIFFORDS website.

Her husband is Sen. Mark Kelly, D-Ariz., who is reportedly one of the top contenders to be Harris’ running mate.

Giffords appeared at an event for Harris on Thursday at the Salt & Light church in Pennsylvania, where she met with community activists in Philadelphia. The predominantly Black neighborhood where she spoke has been impacted by gun violence, including an incident last weekend in which three people were killed and at least six others wounded.

Giffords spoke briefly about her long recovery from the shooting in 2011, which killed six people during a meeting with constituents at a Tucson grocery store. Harris’ other surrogates, including Pennsylvania House Speaker Joanna McClinton, framed the November presidential contest as a choice between Harris, who would sign a ban on assault weapons, and more gun violence under Republican Donald Trump, who gun-rights groups back.

“We are overwhelmed with violence all across America from rural Pennsylvania to inner city neighborhoods like where we are today,” McClinton said. “We as voters can make a decision on having a more violent United States or safer communities in every part of America.”

Both Giffords and McClinton, an ally to Gov. Josh Shapiro, who is also under consideration for the Democratic vice presidential nomination — dodged questions about the veepstakes. Giffords aides told the Associated Press the event had long been planned before President Biden dropped out and endorsed Harris for his job, and certainly before her husband emerged as a potential candidate to run on the 2024 ticket.

Dem who criticized Harris handling of border endorses her

One of six House Democrats who broke with the party this week to condemn Vice President Kamala Harris‘ handling of the southern border endorsed her presidential campaign bid Friday.

Rep. Don Davis of North Carolina also said North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper, a Democrat, would be an “excellent” choice as a running mate.

“The stakes of this presidential election are incredibly high, with far-reaching implications,” Davis said in a statement.

“These issues cannot be overlooked,” said Davis. “I will continue to advocate for comprehensive immigration reform, including securing the border and other issues impacting eastern NC families.”

Republicans have criticized Harris’ record on the border, at a time when record numbers of illegal immigrants have entered the United States. Harris was informally named by President Biden as the “border czar” in 2021.

She was tasked with handling the root causes of mass illegal immigration from Central and South America.

In July 2021, Harris introduced a five-point general strategy to combat the “root causes” of illegal immigration.

The plan did not include specific policies but instead called for “diplomacy, foreign assistance, public diplomacy, and sanctions” to “establish a fair, orderly, and humane immigration system.”

Harris won’t say if she’s pushing Hamas to agree to a cease-fire after publicly pressuring Netanyahu

Vice President Kamala Harris publicly pressed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to “get this deal done” and agree to a cease-fire to end Israel’s war with Hamas in Gaza, but Harris, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, won’t say whether she’s also pushing terror group Hamas to relent at the negotiating table.

Harris’ remarks urging Israel to make a deal, which came after her “frank and constructive” meeting with Netanyahu on Thursday, were lambasted by former President Donald Trump in public and, reportedly, by Netanyahu in private.

“I think her remarks were disrespectful,” Trump, the GOP presidential nominee, told reporters while standing alongside Netanyahu on Friday afternoon. “They weren’t very nice pertaining to Israel. I actually don’t know how a person who’s Jewish can vote for her, but that’s up to them. But she was certainly disrespectful to Israel, in my opinion.”

The current iteration of the proposed deal has two phases, Harris revealed. Phase one calls for a full cease-fire, “including a withdrawal of the Israeli military from population centers in Gaza.” The second phase would see the Israeli military withdraw from Gaza “entirely.”

Harris said that there was “hopeful movement in the talks to secure an agreement on this deal,” but when asked several times by Fox News Digital whether she is applying the same pressure to Hamas leaders to accept the terms as she is to Netanyahu and Israel, her office did not respond.

“Israel has a right to defend itself, and how it does so matters,” Harris told reporters Thursday. “It is time for this war to end. And end in a way that Israel is secure, all the hostages are released, the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza ends, and the Palestinian people can exercise their right to freedom, dignity and self-determination.”

Harris condemned Hamas as a “brutal terrorist organization” that has “committed horrific acts, but she still lobbied to “get the deal done so we can get a cease-fire to end the war.”

Harris also stressed a “serious concern about the scale of human suffering in Gaza.”

Netanyahu was unhappy with Harris’ mentioning of civilian deaths in Gaza and characterization of the “dire humanitarian situation there,” an Israeli official told Axios, adding that there was some concern that the remarks could actually impede progress toward the cease-fire that Harris apparently desires.

But an aide to Harris dismissed that notion.

The aide added: “And this is what the Vice President said publicly as well. The public comments tracked with her previous comments on the conflict. Former President Donald Trump criticized Vice President Kamala Harris on Friday as a “bum” responsible for the influx of migrants flowing across the U.S.-Mexico border during her tenure in the Biden administration.

Trump made the comments about Harris at the Turning Point USA Believers Summit in West Palm Beach, Florida. This comes after Harris secured enough delegates for the Democratic Party’s top nomination after President Joe Biden dropped his re-election effort, although the party’s candidate will not formally be nominated until next month’s convention.

“Three weeks ago, she was a bum, a failed vice president and a failed administration with millions of people crossing. And she was the border czar, now they’re trying to say she never was,” Trump said, referring to recent claims by some media outlets that Harris was never the border czar, although several of the same outlets previously described her as such.

“They’re deleting it all over the place,” he added. “They want to take it [down] because we have the worst border in history. And three and a half years ago, we had the best border that we’ve ever had.”

President Biden tapped Harris in 2021 to address the root causes of mass migration from Central and South America.

Biden said in March 2021 that Harris was leading the effort to coordinate with Mexico and other Northern Triangle nations — Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador — to address issues such as the surge of migrants at the southern border.

Earlier this week, the House passed a resolution condemning Harris as the border czar over her handling of the mass migration crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border. The resolution passed by a 220-196 vote, with at least six Democrats joining Republicans to condemn Harris.

During his remarks on Friday, Trump botched Harris’ name. He appeared to struggle to pronounce “Harris” and said there are multiple ways to pronounce her first name.

“By the way, there are numerous ways of saying her name … It doesn’t matter what I say. I couldn’t care less if I mispronounce it or not. I couldn’t care less,” he said. “Some people think I mispronounce it on purpose, but actually I’ve heard it said about seven different ways. There are a lot of ways.”

Additionally, Trump said Harris must be defeated in a “land slade,” a mispronunciation of “landslide.”

The former president also again purported that Democrats are trying to steal elections and claimed to the Christians in the crowd that Americans will not have to vote at the end of his presidency because “it’ll be fixed” by then, a comment Democrats are criticizing as fascist and an attempt to refuse to leave office.

“If you want to save America, get your friends, get your family, get everyone you know and vote,” Trump said. “Vote early. Vote absentee. Vote on Election Day. I don’t care how, but you have to get out and vote. And again, Christians get out and vote just this time.”

Trump also highlighted that he appointed three Supreme Court justices — Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett — and that he “will once again appoint rock solid conservative judges who will protect religious liberty and not let Marxist lunatics rewrite our constitution.”

The Harris campaign criticized Trump’s speech as “bitter” and “bizarre.”

“Tonight, Donald Trump couldn’t pronounce words, insulted the faith of Jewish and Catholic Americans, lied about the election (again), lied about other stuff, bragged about repealing Roe, proposed cutting billions in education funding, announced he would appoint more extremist judges, revealed he planned to fill a second Trump term with more criminals like himself, attacked lawful voting, went on and on and on, and generally sounded like someone you wouldn’t want to sit near at a restaurant – let alone be President of the United States,” Harris campaign spokesperson James Singer said in a statement.

“America can do better than the bitter, bizarre, and backward looking delusions of criminal Donald Trump,” Singer continued. “Vice President Kamala Harris offers a vision for America’s future focused on freedom, opportunity, and security.”

The House of Representatives is officially off to an early start for its summer recess – a five-week period when lawmakers are back home in their districts focusing on local issues and their own re-election bids.

They will return on Sept. 9 – exactly three weeks from the deadline to fund the government in the next fiscal year.

That means the GOP-run House will have to compromise with the Democrat-controlled Senate or risk a partial government shutdown, with some federal offices shuttered and potentially thousands of government employees furloughed.

It’s all but certain at this point that a short-term extension of the current year’s funding, known as a “continuing resolution” (CR), will be needed to avoid a partial shutdown.

“I’ve always said we’d have to do a CR,” House Appropriations Committee Chairman Tom Cole, R-Okla., told reporters earlier this week. “And then whoever wins the election will make the decision. Do you want a deal by the end of the year, or do you want to kick them to the next Congress? I hope, my advice to whoever wins, would be do it by the end of the year.”

House GOP leaders had laid out an ambitious plan to finish their 12 individual appropriations bills before the current recess, momentum that was derailed by intraparty disagreements about where Republicans’ starting point should be.

GOP rebels pushed for spending bills rife with culture war amendments on issues like transgender surgeries and abortion, arguing that it was the Republicans’ right as a majority to leverage from the most conservative starting point.

Rank-and-file Republicans, however, were uneasy about being forced to take politically unpopular votes on measures that would not become law anyway, with no chance of passing the Democrat-controlled Senate.

So far, six of 12 bills have passed the House floor, while the Senate has not passed any.

Tom Cole

The main discussion when lawmakers return in September will likely surround what a CR would look like in terms of length and what, if any, riders are attached.

Allies of former President Trump have pushed for a CR to extend into the new year in the hopes that Republicans will take back the White House and Senate. But senior GOP lawmakers expressed concern that it would add unnecessary drama to what’s already expected to be an action-packed first 100 days of the new administration.

Some Trump allies are now also pushing for any CR to be paired with the Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility Act (SAVE Act), a GOP-backed bill that would add a proof-of-citizenship requirement to the voter registration process.

“We have been in session week after week for months after Speaker Johnson passed a two part omnibus, fully funding the Biden/Harris agenda in May…For what? Messaging? When the reality that we ALL know is that we will be forced to vote on a CR by Sept 30th which is the government funding deadline,” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., wrote on X.

“And since we all know a CR is coming you would think we would be working on one that makes an impact like attaching the SAVE Act for example because our elections matter. But nope, we are up here voting at 9 pm tonight on bills that won’t see the light of day in Schumer’s Senate for nothing.”

In his comments to reporters earlier this week, however, Cole signaled that he was not enthusiastic about the idea.

“I haven’t really thought about it yet, it’s not a big deal to me. But again, if it can’t pass the Senate, it isn’t going to be an effective CR,” Cole said. “So a real CR, you know, I’m more interested actually in disaster relief. That’s something that I think the two sides can come together on.”

When reached for comment earlier this week about GOP frustrations over the spending process, a spokesperson for Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., told Fox News Digital: “The House has made significant progress in advancing FY25 appropriations bills. The House Appropriations Committee has diligently moved all 12 bills out of committee and the House has passed 75% of government funding for the upcoming fiscal year, while the Senate has yet to even consider a single appropriations bill. The House will continue its successful effort to responsibly fund the government for FY25 when it returns from its district work period.”

Harris vs. Trump: 100 days from election, it’s a dramatically altered presidential race

Sunday marks 100 days until Election Day 2024.

It also marks one week since President Biden’s political landscape-altering announcement that he was suspending his re-election rematch against former President Trump.

Biden made his move amid mounting pressure from within the Democratic Party for him to drop out after a disastrous performance in last month’s first presidential debate with Trump.

The embattled president’s immediate backing of Vice President Kamala Harris last Sunday ignited a surge of endorsements for the vice president by Democratic governors, senators, House members and other party leaders. Within 36 hours, Harris announced that she had locked up her party’s nomination by landing the verbal backing of a majority of the nearly 4,000 delegates to next month’s Democratic National Convention.

ICING ON THE DEMOCRATS’ 2024 CAKE – THE OBAMAS ENDORSE HARRIS

Former President Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama on Friday became the final major party leaders to endorse the vice president.

Harris also hauled in a staggering $129 million in fundraising following Biden’s announcement, which her campaign touted on Thursday morning.

“It’s go-time for both sides,” longtime Republican consultant David Kochel told Fox News.

Besides uniting and exciting Democrats, the replacement of Biden by his vice president as the party’s standard-bearer – which is expected to become official during a virtual roll call of convention delegates that starts on Aug. 1 – has given Harris a bump in public opinion polling.

What was once a margin-of-error race between Biden and Trump had turned into a clear edge for the former president in the weeks after their June 27 debate showdown in Atlanta. However, with Harris now at the top of the ticket and Biden out of the race, surveys indicate it is back to a margin-of-error race.

“Instead of what was shaping up to be a Trump win, America has a real, bona fide race on its hands,” veteran political scientist and New England College President Wayne Lesperance said. “Game on.”

While Harris faces the monumental task of going from zero to 60 in an extremely condensed timeline, she is not starting from scratch, as she immediately inherited Biden’s large campaign apparatus with its vast ground-game resources in the key swing states.

However, Harris does face a crucial immediate task – choosing a running mate – which could come as early as the next week or two.

Biden and Trump are both well-known commodities to American voters.

However, Kochel, a veteran of numerous GOP presidential campaigns who remained neutral in the 2024 Republican primary, emphasized that most Americans know so little about the vice president’s record and that both the Trump and Harris campaigns are “in a race to define” Harris.

This weekend marks 100 days until the November presidential election

In his first campaign rally since the presidential race was upended, Trump did not waste any time in trying to define his new opponent.

At a rally in the crucial battleground state of North Carolina, the Republican presidential nominee repeatedly took aim at Harris, whom he derogatorily called “lying Kamala Harris.”

Trump aimed to paint Harris as the “most incompetent and far-left vice president in American history.”

The former president charged that Harris “has been the ultra-liberal driving force behind every single Biden catastrophe. She is a radical left lunatic who will destroy our country if she ever gets the chance to get into office.”

Additionally, pointing to Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, an Independent, a far-left champion and two-time runner-up for the Democratic presidential nomination, Trump argued that Harris is “more liberal than Bernie Sanders. Can you believe it?”

Throughout his more than an hour and a half stream of comments, Trump repeatedly slammed the vice president over border security and crime, two top issues in the 2024 election.

Trump campaign spokesman and senior adviser Steven Cheung said that the former president’s team was ready to go on offense the moment Harris succeeded Biden as the Democrats’ standard-bearer.

“There wasn’t any surprise. We were prepared for it. We had all our assets ready. We had all our content ready. It didn’t surprise anyone,” Cheung told reporters ahead of the Trump rally.

Harris, pushing back, is pointing to her hefty law enforcement résumé as she spotlights Trump’s numerous legal controversies, including his 34 felony convictions two months ago in the first criminal trial of a former or current president.

“As many of you know, before I was elected as vice president, before I was elected as a United States senator, I was the elected attorney general of California. Before that, I was a courtroom prosecutor. In those roles, I took on perpetrators of all kinds,” Harris said Monday at an event at her campaign headquarters in Wilmington, Delaware.

“Predators who abused women, fraudsters who ripped off consumers, cheaters who broke the rules for their own gain. So, hear me when I say I know Donald Trump’s type,” she emphasized as she pointed to Trump’s multiple lawsuits and criminal cases, many of which are ongoing.

Harris repeated the line of attack the next day at a rally in Milwaukee.

With 100 days to go until Election Day, the rhetoric this past week on the campaign trail is just an appetizer of things to come.

Trump impeachment Dem pushes back on GOP concerns over possible role in assassination attempt probe

The office of a House Democrat who played a prominent role in former President Trump’s first impeachment is now pushing back against GOP-fueled criticism that he should not be on the task force investigating the attempted assassination of the former president.

Rep. Dan Goldman, D-N.Y., who came under fire last year for saying that Trump “has to be eliminated,” is among the Democrats being considered for a place on the bipartisan commission to study the July 13 shooting at Trump’s Butler, Pennsylvania, rally, a source familiar with the matter told Fox News Digital.

“As someone with a lifelong commitment to democracy and the rule of law, Congressman Goldman immediately clarified a misstatement from last November to emphasize his strong condemnation of all political violence. The Congressman demonstrated with pointed questioning during congressional hearings last week that the Secret Service must be held accountable for its unacceptable security lapse, and he is determined to ensure such a failure never happens again,” Goldman’s spokesperson Madison Andrus told Fox News Digital.

FBI WANTS TO INTERVIEW TRUMP AFTER ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT: SOURCE

Goldman first came to national prominence as Democrats’ lead counsel during Trump’s first impeachment trial. He has remained a vocal Trump critic since coming to Congress in January 2023.

His potential placement on the commission has already invoked the ire of Trump allies since first being reported in Punchbowl News on Friday morning.

Among those leading the criticism is Donald Trump Jr., who recalled that Goldman had said that Trump needed to be “eliminated,” in a November 2023 MSNBC interview, which Goldman has since apologized for.

“Democrats are trying to put Dan Goldman on the committee to investigate the assassination attempt. Just weeks ago he called for DJT to be ‘eliminated.’ Probably not the best person to have on this task force,” Trump Jr. wrote on X.

TRUMP RALLY BULLET TRAJECTORY ANALYSIS CONTRADICTS FBI ‘SHRAPNEL’ TESTIMONY ON CAPITOL HILL: REPORT

Goldman wrote on X in November 2023, “Yesterday on TV, I mistakenly used the wrong word to express the importance for America that Donald Trump doesn’t become President again. While he must be defeated, I certainly wish no harm to him and do not condone political violence. I apologize for the poor choice of words.”

Philip Letsou, deputy communications director for the Senate Republicans’ campaign arm, wrote on the site, “Democrats are evidently planning on stacking the task force to investigate the assassination attempt on Trump with conspiracy theorists like Dan Goldman.”

The House voted to establish the commission in a unanimous 416-0 vote last week. Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., has said the panel will have seven Republicans and six Democrats, chosen by himself and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., respectively.

As of Friday morning, Jeffries’ office told Fox News Digital that no final decisions had been made.

But a second source who spoke with Fox News Digital said that another possible contender is Rep. Glenn Ivey, D-Md., who served as State’s Attorney for Prince George’s County for nearly a decade from 2003 until 2011, before coming to Congress in 2023.

On the GOP side, a senior Republican lawmaker told Fox News Digital that “it seems like half our members want to be on the task force.”

A third source who spoke with Fox News Digital said that Rep. Mike Kelly, R-Pa., was in strong consideration to play a prominent role on the panel. Kelly, whose district the shooting took place in, was present when the shooting occurred.

Kelly was also the leader of the resolution establishing the task force that passed the House this week.

Kamala Harris and the southern border crisis: A timeline

Vice President Kamala Harris is the presumptive 2024 Democratic nominee for president, and one of the issues that has come up in the days since she was endorsed by President Biden is her leadership dealing with the migrant crisis at the southern border. But what is her role, and what is her record?

March 2021 — Border orders

Migrant crossings at the southern border, which had been increasing in the last months of the Trump administration, skyrocketed after Biden entered office. Biden also rolled back a number of Trump-era initiatives and attempted to place a moratorium on deportations. With numbers rising quickly, Biden told reporters that Harris would be put in charge of tackling root causes, issues like climate change, poverty and violence the administration believes was driving migrants north.

“There’s about five other major things she’s handling, but I’ve asked her, the VP, today — because she’s the most qualified person to do it — to lead our efforts with Mexico and the Northern Triangle and the countries that help — are going to need help in stemming the movement of so many folks, stemming the migration to our southern border,” he said.

It quickly led to Harris being dubbed by media outlets and Republicans as the “border czar.” The White House rejected that title, but it has stuck with her ever since and made her a figurehead along with DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for the crisis.

WHY NOW? MEDIA OUTLETS LARGELY QUIET ON TIMING OF SUDDEN CRACKDOWN OF KAMALA HARRIS ‘BORDER CZAR’ LABEL

Kamala in Texas

June 2021 — “Do not come”

After the assignment by Biden, and with numbers skyrocketing through subsequent months to record highs, Harris immediately came under pressure to visit the border as the White House said her role was more diplomatic than related to the border directly. She instead went to Mexico and Guatemala and had a stern message for migrants that upset immigrant activists.

“Do not come. Do not come. The United States will continue to enforce our laws and secure our borders,” she said. “If you come to our border, you will be turned back.”

Yet the migrants did continue to arrive, and the crisis only grew in the months ahead.

June 2021 — “I voted for you”

An awkward moment took place during her trip to Mexico, when she asked a reporter named Maria Fernanda to ask a question during a press conference. But it was actually an activist.

“I voted for you,” she said. “My question is, what would you say to these women, those mothers and also women of color on both sides of the border, farmers, many of them who I see every day as a message of hope but also as — what will you do for them in the next coming years?”

June 2021 — “I haven’t been to Europe”

As the pressure rose for her to go to the U.S. southern border, Harris pushed back.

“You haven’t been to the border,” NBC’s Lester Holt told her, after she claimed she had been to the border.

“And I haven’t been to Europe,” Harris quipped.

Later that month, she went to the border in El Paso, Texas, where she received a briefing and toured a processing center while meeting with advocates and providers.

Reports of dissent within Kamala world

Amid the ongoing crisis, reports emerged that Harris was dissatisfied with her role in general, including the border assignment. Politico reported that the border visit was a “chaotic moment” in an office dealing with diminished trust and low morale. In a book released in 2023, an author reported she let the assignment slide.

“She let the criticism guide her,” Franklin Foer wrote in “The Last Politician.” “Instead of diligently sticking to the Central America assignment, she seemed to accept the conventional wisdom about it. It was a futile gig, so she let it fall to the side, missing an opportunity to grind her way to a meaningful achievement.”

Sept 2021: “Whipping” narrative

Harris was one of the members of the administration who fueled a since-debunked narrative about migrants being whipped by Border Patrol agents in the Del Rio Sector.

“What I saw depicted about those individuals on horseback treating human beings the way they were was horrible,” Harris told reporters. “And I fully support what is happening right now, which is a thorough investigation into exactly what is going on there. But human beings should never be treated that way. And I’m deeply troubled about it. And I’ll also be talking to Secretary [Alejandro] Mayorkas about it today.”

A subsequent investigation faulted the agents for minor infractions but found the underlying claims migrants were whipped were not true.

February 2022: More time needed

Harris would largely be unseen through the rest of 2021 and 2022 on the root causes strategy, although a private sector initiative to draw investment to tackle those root causes would continue. But she would not visit the border again.

Kamala Harris border

Amid continually high numbers that outpaced 2021, Harris warned that her strategy could not be expected to bring results right away.

“None of this is going to be just turning on a switch. It requires focus. It requires intention. It requires an investment over a period of time, which means, in the short point, is that you’re not going to see the benefit of it overnight because the problems didn’t occur overnight,” she said in an interview.

AXIOS HIT WITH COMMUNITY NOTE AFTER CLAIMING HARRIS WAS NEVER ‘BORDER CZAR’

June 2022: Los Angeles Summit

In June 2022, she traveled to the Summit of the Americas in Los Angeles and met with other leaders on how to handle the crisis. During that summit, she announced that $3.2 billion in commitments from private sector companies had been secured. She also doubled down on the root causes explanation for the crisis.

“First, I do believe most people don’t want to leave home. They don’t want to leave their grandmother. They don’t want to leave the place where they worship and the community that they’ve always known,” she said. “And so, when they do, it is usually for one of two reasons: They are fleeing harm or to stay means they simply cannot satisfy their basic needs or the needs of their family.”

But 2022’s summer broke records for migrant encounters, and those numbers would worsen in 2023.

September 2022: “Border is secure”

With a record summer having passed, Harris came under fire for declaring the border was secure despite the ongoing crisis and mass releases into the interior.

“The border is secure, but we also have a broken immigration system, in particular over the last four years before we came in, and it needs to be fixed,” Harris said on NBC.

2023: More records smashed

Harris made few appearances in 2023 relating to the border crisis, although her private investment strategy continued to bring in additional commitments from companies.

But the crisis did not stay out of the news, and 2023 broke new records for enormous amounts of migrant encounters and a number of chaotic scenes at the border.

Fiscal year 2023 broke the record for encounters with over 2.4 million, while December had nearly 250,000 encounters in a single month.

2024: Support for bipartisan bill, executive orders

While the White House continued to reject the “border czar” narrative, Harris put her support behind a bipartisan Senate agreement to provide more funding to the border and reduce migrant crossings when they reach a certain level.

She also backed a number of executive orders by President Biden, who would implement a limit on asylum and efforts to provide a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants who are spouses of U.S. citizens.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE COVERAGE OF THE BORDER SECURITY CRISIS

As she began to step into the role of 2024 Democratic presidential nominee, Harris touted what her team sees as successes in the role. The project to rally private-sector investment to the region via a call to action has seen more than $5.2 billion committed since May 2021 from over 50 companies and organizations.  Additionally, officials noted the numbers of encounters from Northern Triangle countries have fallen from over 700,000 in fiscal 2021 to over 330,000 so far as of May, with four months left to go.

However, according to CBP data, during 3½ years of the Biden/Harris administration, illegal crossings of migrants from Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras are up 140% over Trump’s first term in office and are up 34% over all eight years of Obama’s two terms in office.

Harris has also promised to roll out additional solutions to the border crisis, while accusing former President Trump of scuttling efforts for reform.

“[Trump] can make up whatever lies he wants, but the fact is there’s only one candidate in this race who will fight for real solutions to help secure our nation’s border, and that’s Vice President Harris,” Harris campaign spokesperson Kevin Munoz said.

EXCLUSIVE: WEST LEBANON, N.H. — When it comes to Sen. Bernie Sanders, former President Trump is no laughing matter.

The longtime independent senator from Vermont, progressive champion and two-time runner-up in the Democratic presidential primaries is on a two-day swing this weekend in neighboring New Hampshire as well as Maine to campaign on behalf of Vice President Kamala Harris to make sure the GOP presidential nominee doesn’t return to the White House.

“Trump cannot get elected. We’ve got to do everything we can to make sure that does not happen,” Sanders told a crowd of supporters during his first stop Friday in New Hampshire, a key swing state in presidential elections.

TRUMP MOVES TO DEFINE HARRIS AS ULTRA-LIBERAL

But minutes earlier, Sanders briefly broke out in laughter when asked in a national exclusive interview with Fox News about comments from Trump this week arguing that Harris — who has replaced President Biden at the top of the Democrats’ 2024 national ticket — is more liberal than the Vermont senator.

Trump over the past week has worked to define Harris, a former San Francisco district attorney and California attorney general, as an ultra-liberal, pointing to her record in the U.S. Senate and as vice president.

WHITMER CHARGES VANCE HAS ‘ABSOLUTELY BETRAYED’ HIS WORKING CLASS ROOTS

Speaking to a packed arena in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Wednesday, Trump charged that Harris was the “most incompetent and far-left vice president in American history… She is a radical left lunatic who will destroy our country if she ever gets the chance to get into office.”

And mentioning Sanders, Trump argued that Harris is “more liberal than Bernie Sanders. Can you believe it?”

Sanders, responding, said, “I would hope that when he said, ‘Can you believe that?,’ people said no.”

“It’’s not true. Once again, Trump is lying,” Sanders emphasized. “Let me just simply say that for better or for worse, Kamala Harris is not more progressive than I am.”

During his Fox News interview and later at his event, Sanders took aim at Trump, who two months ago was convicted of 34 felony counts in the first criminal trial of a former or current president in the nation’s history.

“This is the most important election, I think, in our lifetimes. I will do everything that I can to see that Donald Trump is defeated,” the senator stressed.

REPUBLICANS ARGUE HARRIS REPLACING BIDEN AT TOP OF DEMOCRATS’ TICKET ‘UNDEMOCRATIC’

Sanders argued that “the American people will not and cannot accept a president who is a pathological liar, somebody who believes that women should not be able to control their own bodies, somebody who in the midst of massive heatwaves thinks climate change is a hoax and somebody who actually does not believe in democracy, has not said that he will accept those election results if he loses. So, for all of those reasons, Trump must be defeated.”

Sanders is campaigning on behalf of Harris, but he hasn’t formally endorsed the vice president.

“I think if the vice president is to win this election, and obviously I want her to win, I think she has to start talking about issues of relevance to the working class of this country, because there are tens of millions of people who are really hurting,” Sanders explained. “They want to know what the next president is going to do for them, and I hope very much that Vice President Harris will make that clear.”

“The path towards victory is to talk about issues that are relevant,” he reiterated.

Asked what Harris specifically needs to detail, Sanders said, “I hope that the vice president will be talking about the need to substantially lower prescription drug costs… the need to have tax reform so the wealthiest in this country start paying their fair share of taxes, so we can greatly expand child care and affordable housing in this country, and I think we’ve got to be very strong on the issue of climate change and make it clear that we’re going to transform our energy system away from fossil fuel if we’re going to save this planet for future generations.”

Sanders said that Harris’ choice of a running mate — which is expected to come in the next two weeks — will be a signal of whether she will project a progressive agenda as she runs for the White House.

“I think it will, and I hope very much she looks at one of the many progressive people who are out there who I think would do a good job as vice president,” the senator said.

Sanders was making his swing through New Hampshire and Maine less than a week after President Biden suspended his 2024 re-election rematch with Trump. Biden made his move amid mounting pressure from within the Democratic Party for him to drop out after a disastrous performance in last month’s first presidential debate with Trump.

The embattled president’s immediate backing of Harris ignited a surge of endorsements of Harris by Democratic governors, senators, House members and other party leaders. By Monday night, the vice president announced that she had locked up her party’s nomination by landing the backing of a majority of the nearly 4,000 delegates to next month’s Democratic National Convention. On Friday morning, former President Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama were among the final major party leaders to endorse the vice president.

Harris has also hauled in a staggering $129 million in fundraising since Biden’s announcement, her campaign touted on Thursday morning.

Republicans charge that the process has been anything but democratic — and they point to Biden’s own words.

Before dropping out, the president had repeatedly cited the 14 million votes he won in this year’s Democratic presidential primaries as a reason he should stay in the 2024 race.

“The voters — and the voters alone — decide the nominee of the Democratic Party,” he emphasized in a letter on July 8. “Not the press, not the pundits, not the big donors, not any selected group of individuals, no matter how well intentioned.”

Trump, at his rally in Charlotte on Wednesday, called the switch at the top of the Democrats’ national ticket “an undemocratic move.”

“These are nasty people, the Democrats,” Trump argued.

And Republican Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas claimed in a social media post this week that “Joe Biden succumbed to a coup by Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama, and Hollywood donors, ignoring millions of Democratic primary votes.”

But Sanders, who argued during his marathon 2016 Democratic presidential primary battle against eventual nominee Hillary Clinton that the party was working against him, doesn’t buy the GOP criticism.

“These are extraordinary times and the Democrats had to move very quickly,” Sanders said. “So I think that given the reality that Biden dropped out and having a Democratic convention coming, I think what happened is she announced her candidacy, she rallied the support she needs, and I think that’s fine.”

The presidential contest between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump is tied in Michigan, a state widely seen as a “must have” for Democrats. Harris exceeds President Joe Biden’s performance among some key voting blocs, and that makes it a dead-even race for the first time this year, according to a Fox News survey of Michigan voters conducted after Biden dropped out and endorsed Harris.

In a hypothetical head-to-head matchup, Harris and Trump each garner 49% support. Trump was ahead of Biden by 3 points in April and by 2 points in February. In the wake of being unofficially embraced as the party’s nominee, Harris received higher support than Biden did in April, while Trump’s number held steady despite the survey being conducted soon after the Republican National Convention and a failed assassination attempt.

Here’s why the race is a tossup: Men favor Trump by 13 points, while women back Harris by 12. Voters ages 45 and over prefer Trump by 2 points, but Harris is the choice among voters under 35 by 5 points. Whites without a college degree pick Trump by 15 points, while Whites with a degree go for Harris by 3 points and voters of color back her by 39 points.

Harris also receives support from union households (+6 points), and she trails by only 9 points among those who “somewhat” disapprove of Biden’s job performance.

NETANYAHU REPORTEDLY UPSET WITH HARRIS OVER VP’S ISRAEL REMARKS AS WHITE HOUSE PUSHES BACK

Other groups backing Trump include Independents (+8 points), rural voters (+20), and White evangelical Christians (+48).

Compared to Biden in April, Harris performs better with Democrats (by 3 points), men (+5), Whites without a college degree (+6), Black voters (+7), voters under age 35 (+ 12), and those with negative views of both Biden and Trump (double haters +23). She does worse than Biden among voters ages 65 and over (-3 points) and suburban women (-2).

“Harris does slightly better with some key Democratic constituencies and heightened enthusiasm on the left is real,” says Daron Shaw, a Republican who conducts Fox News surveys with Democrat Chris Anderson. “However, Democrats were completely depressed over Biden, and he was hemorrhaging support among young people and nonwhites, so it’s a pretty low bar.”

Overall, 7 in 10 say they are extremely motivated to vote this year, and they back Trump over Harris by 1 point.

DOOCY GRILLS WHITE HOUSE ON CLAIMS THAT HARRIS WAS NEVER ‘BORDER CZAR’

About 5 in 10 Michigan voters say they are falling behind financially, while almost 4 in 10 are holding steady, and 1 in 10 are getting ahead. Those numbers are mostly unchanged since April.

The economy dominates for Michigan voters, as more than twice as many (35%) say it will be the most important issue to their vote as say the same about immigration (17%) and abortion (16%). All other issues rank in the single digits.

Trump is favored among those voting on immigration (+79) and the economy (+31), while those prioritizing abortion prefer Harris (+68).

In a potential expanded ballot, Harris trails Trump by 2 points (43-45%), with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. getting 7%, and Jill Stein and Cornel West at 1% each.  In April, Trump also topped Biden by 2 points, with Kennedy at 9%.

Kennedy gets a touch more backing from those who support Trump (8%) than Harris (6%).

Biden won Michigan in 2020 by 2.78 percentage points and received 50.62 percent of the vote. The new survey finds 43% of voters approve of the job he is doing, while 56% disapprove — including 14% of those who voted for him in 2020.

Most, 79%, approve of Biden’s decision to abandon his re-election bid and nearly two-thirds want him to finish his term. Those numbers are even higher among Democrats, as nearly 9 in 10 both approve of him leaving the race and want him to stay in office.

Seven in 10 Michigan Democrats want Harris as the Democratic Party’s nominee, while 2 in 10 favor their governor, Gretchen Whitmer, for the role.

However, Whitmer outperforms Harris in a potential 2-way matchup against Trump, besting him by a 6-point margin (52-46%). She receives more support than Harris among White voters (by 3 points), women (+3), non-college Whites (+4), and Independents (+6).

Whitmer is also the only one in the survey with a positive personal rating. A 56% majority of Michigan voters has a favorable opinion of her, while 42% view her negatively for a net +14 points. All others are underwater, including Harris (-4 points), Trump (-5), and GOP vice presidential candidate JD Vance (-10). One in five Michigan voters are unable to rate Vance.

Since April, Biden’s favorable rating has slipped, going from negative by 16 points to negative by 20 today. Trump’s rating, on the other hand, has improved by 3 points over the same period.

Four years ago this month, Biden’s favorability was +11 and Trump’s was -10 (July 2020).

“While the race might not look much different based on the horserace, Democrats are clearly in a better position with Harris at the top of the ticket,” says Anderson. “Biden had become deeply unpopular in Michigan, but now Democrats can hit the reset button with a candidate with the exact same favorability as Trump and who is capable of campaigning vigorously.”

In the race to replace retiring Democratic Sen. Debbie Stabenow, Democrat Elissa Slotkin is ahead of Republican Mike Rogers by a 5-point margin, 51-46%. The Michigan primary is Aug. 6.

Some 9% of Trump supporters defect to Slotkin, while 5% of those backing Harris switch parties to support Rogers.

Conducted July 22-24, 2024 under the joint direction of Beacon Research (D) and Shaw & Company Research (R), this Fox News Poll includes interviews with a sample of 1,012 Michigan registered voters randomly selected from a statewide voter file. Respondents spoke with live interviewers on landlines (117) and cellphones (647) or completed the survey online after receiving a text (248). Results based on the full sample have a margin of sampling error of ±3 percentage points. Sampling error associated with subgroup results is higher. In addition to sampling error, question wording and order can influence results. Weights are generally applied to age, race, education, and area variables to ensure the demographics are representative of the registered voter population. Sources for developing weight targets include the American Community Survey, Fox News Voter Analysis, and voter file data.

Trump announces he took off the last bandage post-assassination attempt

Former President Donald Trump announced to a crowd Friday night he “just took off the last bandage” on his ear after his assassination attempt nearly two weeks prior.

The “Believer’s Summit,” hosted by Turning Point Action in West Palm Beach, focused on reaching voters of faith. Dr. Ben Carson, former HUD Secretary, preceded the former president.

“And we want to thank each and every one of the believers in this room for your prayers and your incredible support. I really did appreciate it,” said Trump.

“Something was working, that we know, something was working. So I thank you very much. And I stand before you tonight, thanks to the power of prayer and the grace of Almighty God,” he added.

The former President continued, “As I think you can see, I’ve recovered well. And in fact, I just took off the last bandage off of my ear.”

The crowd roared into applause as the former president gestured to his injured ear before clarifying, “I just got it off. I took it off for this group. I don’t know why I did that for this group, but that’s it. I think that’s it.”

Trump’s speech included attacks against Democratic heir apparent Kamala Harris, calling the Vice President “a bum.”

“Three weeks ago, she was a bum, a failed vice president and a failed administration with millions of people crossing. And she was the border czar, now they’re trying to say she never was,” the former president said.

TRUMP’S FORMER DOCTOR GIVES HEALTH UPDATE, CALLS OUT WRAY AS FBI AFFIRMS BULLET STRUCK FORMER PRESIDENT

He continued, “if radical liberal Kamala Harris gets in and, by the way, there are numerous ways of saying her name, they were explaining to me, you can say, Kamala, you can say Kamala. I said, don’t worry about it,”

“Doesn’t matter what I say. I couldn’t care less if I mispronounce it or not. I couldn’t care less,” Trump said.

Dr. Ronny Jackson, former White House doctor, released a letter earlier Friday offering an update on Donald Trump’s health after his assassination attempt on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania.

“I want to reassure the American people and the rest of the world, that President Trump is doing extremely well,” Jackson asserted.

“He is rapidly recovering from the gunshot wound to his right ear. I will continue to be available to assist President Trump and his personal physician in any way they see fit and will provide updates as necessary and with the permission of President Trump,” Jackson concluded.

The FBI confirmed on Friday to Fox News Digital, “What struck former President Trump in the ear was a bullet, whether whole or fragmented into smaller pieces, fired from the deceased subject’s rifle.”

Harris campaign claims she no longer supports fracking ban she touted in 2019: report

Vice President Kamala Harris no longer supports a fracking ban, in a change in her stance during the last presidential election, her campaign said on Friday, according to a report.

Before she dropped her bid for president in 2019 and joined President Biden’s ticket, she said in a CNN town hall “there’s no question I’m in favor of banning fracking.”

“And starting with what we can do on day one around public lands, right?” she continued. “And then there has to be legislation, but, yes, that’s something I’ve taken on in California. I have a history of working on this issue and to your point we have to just acknowledge that the residual impact of fracking is enormous in terms of the health and safety of communities.”

Harris also cosponsored the Green New Deal as a senator in 2019, a proposal to stem climate change that includes a ban on fracking.

TRUMP QUICKLY MOVES TO DEFINE HARRIS AS ‘MORE LEFT THAN BERNIE SANDERS’

“Climate change is real, and it poses an existential threat to us as human beings, and it is within our power to do something about it,” Harris said on the campaign trail that year before exiting the race, according to The New York Times. “I am supporting the Green New Deal.”

However, Biden’s campaign and his administration have not backed banning fracking despite Biden once saying during a primary debate “We would make sure it’s eliminated.” His campaign later clarified that he “supports eliminating subsidies for coal and gas and deploying carbon capture.”

Since Biden announced he is dropping out of the race and endorsed Harris last Sunday, she has moderated some of her positions from her 2019 run, in which she embraced more progressive policies.

Trump was quick to paint her as a “radical liberal” since she became the presumptive Democratic nominee.

Harris is the “most incompetent and far-left vice president in American history,” the former president told a rally crowd in Charlotte on Wednesday.

Trump charged that Harris “has been the ultra-liberal driving force behind every single Biden catastrophe. She is a radical left lunatic who will destroy our country if she ever gets the chance to get into office.”

He added, “She wants no fracking. You’re going to be paying a lot of money. You’re going to be paying so much. You’re going to say ‘bring back Trump.’”

Telling The Hill that Harris no longer wants to ban fracking, her campaign pushed back on Trump’s rhetoric.

“Trump’s false claims about fracking bans are an obvious attempt to distract from his own plans to enrich oil and gas executives at the expense of the middle class,” the campaign told The Hill. “The Biden-Harris Administration passed the largest ever climate change legislation and under their leadership, America now has the highest ever domestic energy production,” the spokesperson said in an email. “This Administration created 300,000 energy jobs, while Trump lost nearly a million and his Project 2025 would undo the enormous progress we’ve made the past four years.”

In a statement to Fox News Digital, National Republican Congressional Committee spokesman Mike Marinella, said, “Kamala Harris is the most far-left progressive presidential nominee in history, and extreme Democrats in the Rust Belt now own every single policy she supports.”

He added, “A fracking ban would be disastrous for workers and families, and extreme Democrats’ mission to force Biden to step aside and replace him with San Francisco radical Kamala Harris shows exactly how out of touch they are with their voters.”

Ramaswamy warns GOP on several ‘hard realities’ to address before criticizing Harris: ‘Hurting our chances’

Former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy issued a warning to Republicans this week that they need to be aware of some “hard realities” around the way they message their criticisms of Vice President Kamala Harris now that she is the presumptive Democratic nominee for president.

“The bottom line is, I think what’s happened is a lot of Republicans were caught by surprise after the convention,” Ramaswamy told Fox News Digital on Friday. “That’s resulted in some reactive steps that I don’t think all make sense. And I think they’re actually hurting us.”

Ramaswamy spoke to Fox News Digital about a viral comment he posted Thursday on X that was seen by over 3 million people that addressed issues and concerns he has seen with the way Republicans are talking about the matchup between Harris and former President Trump.

Ramswamy’s first point and concern is that Republicans are calling for Biden to step down or be removed from office, using the argument that if he is not capable of running for president, he isn’t capable of serving as president.

VIVEK RAMASWAMY ‘WOULD CONSIDER’ TAKING JD VANCE’S SENATE SEAT IF ASKED

Harris Ramaswamy split

“I think this makes absolutely zero sense and here’s why,” Ramaswamy explained. “Kamala Harris is unproven as a political leader, let alone as the U.S. president. Why put her in a position as the U.S. president with all the benefits of incumbency? Oval Office addresses, God forbid, to even change policy or foreign policy, to be able to create circumstances that make her look better. That’s one of the advantages that many incumbent presidents, the sad truth is, have used throughout American history.”

Ramaswamy said calling on Biden to step down is “another example” of Republicans being “reactive,” which ends up “hurting our chances rather than helping us.”

“It’s not going to be good for America and it’s not going to be good for Republican electoral prospects if Kamala Harris is the President of the United States of America for even a short period of time, for even a minute,” Ramaswamy said. “I don’t think that’s something we should want, and it doesn’t make sense and that’s why I called it out.”

Many Republicans have focused on Harris’ record as a prosecutor, which Ramaswamy warned could backfire if they focus too much on attacks that she “locked up” too many people for petty crimes.

NEW POLL SHOWS TRUMP, HARRIS TIED IN KEY BATTLEGROUND STATE: ‘CLOSE AS CLOSE CAN BE’

“So look, this is the other category of criticisms I see coming, even from some conservatives, saying that she locked up too many people while she was a prosecutor,” he said. “This is the wrong line of attack. It doesn’t make sense.“

Ramaswamy continued, “In fact, one of the images that Kamala Harris is trying to project is that she’s somehow going to be a law-and-order presidential candidate. I find that laughable. Look at under the Democratic regime, including policies that she has supported, clear the jails, defund the police. That’s resulted in a wave of rampant crime in this country. People in the United States of America, across the aisle and both camps, are dead set against this wave of crime. But if against that backdrop, Republicans are criticizing her for locking too many people up, it doesn’t make sense because it legitimizes the otherwise laughable claim that she’s a law-and-order candidate.“

Republicans have also accused Harris of covering up Biden’s health issues while at the same time accusing the vice president of orchestrating a soft “coup” to remove him from the ticket. Ramswamy told Fox News Digital those two messages don’t mesh.

“The main point is what voters really care about is the future,” he said. “What are we actually going to deliver? And the more we focus on bickering on that past political missteps or whatever from the Democratic side, the more small-minded we’re going to be seen as being.

“On one hand, you have Republicans saying that Kamala Harris covered up for Joe Biden. She was covering for him and telling the public that he was actually a great president, when in fact he wasn’t cognitively capable. On the other hand, at the same time, we’re saying that Kamala staged this coup against Biden. It doesn’t make sense to many independent voters to say both of those things at the same time. They’re self-contradictory. And if we say things that don’t make sense, we’re more likely to lose votes, which is the thing that I care most about. So I come back to the basic point. That’s not how we’re going to win this election. We’re not going to win this election by picking at these nit-picking… ‘inside baseball’ political criticisms of Kamala. It doesn’t matter. The voters don’t care.”

Ramaswamy told Fox News Digital that Harris is not the “biggest risk” the Republican side faces, but rather the “shenanigans on the Democratic side.”

“The voters don’t love Kamala Harris on her own terms,” Ramaswamy said. “We know that because even when she was running in the Democratic primary, she didn’t even make it to the Iowa caucus. I was an unknown 37-year-old businessman, ran for office for the first time as U.S. president last year. I have more delegates that have supported me for U.S. president than Kamala Harris ever has had. That’s because voters don’t find her compelling. So it’s not that Kamala Harris is our biggest risk.”

When asked if some Republicans are underestimating Harris’ ability to win, Ramswamy said that “complacency” is always a concern.

“You got to compete like you’re behind, or else you soon will be,” he said. “We’re not up against a candidate. It’s not Kamala. It’s not Joe. It’s not any other individual candidate. We are up against a machine and the more we understand that, we have formidable opponents. Let’s take stock of some sobering realities. Republicans have lost devastating defeats relative to expectations in 2018, 2020, 2022.

“I don’t want to see the same thing happen in 2024. So, you know what? ‘Fool me once. Shame on you. Fool me twice. Shame on me.’ The old adage means something for a reason. I think our movement needs to wake up and say that winning by a little bit shouldn’t even be our goal. We’ve got to win by a landslide, and a landslide minus some shenanigans in margin is still going to be a victory. That’s the attitude we need.”

Ramaswamy explained his belief that Democrats were waiting until after the Republican National Convention to have “full information,” and that it is understandable Republicans were caught “flat-footed,” but ultimately they will be victorious in November if they stay focused.

“It doesn’t matter because Kamala Harris—we can easily defeat Kamala Harris in the same landslide we were going to defeat Joe Biden on,” he said. “But it’s not going to be by nit-picking on random political criticisms of her. I think those could backfire. I think the way we’re going to do it is by articulating our own vision of who we are and what we stand for. And if so, we win this thing not only in a landslide, but we unite this country and revive our country, which is something we’re hungry for.”

Top Democratic super PAC launches massive $50M ad spend for Harris leading up to DNC

A top Democratic super PAC has launched a massive ad buy across several battleground states to boost Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential candidacy leading up to the Democratic Party’s convention in Chicago next month.

Future Forward, the largest Democratic-leaning super PAC, announced this week it will spend $50 million supporting Harris in six states in the next three weeks ahead of the convention in Chicago, The Washington Post reported.

Additionally, the outlet reported that the second-largest independent supporter of Democrats, American Bridge 21st Century, will start placing ads Friday in the key swing state of Michigan.

On top of that, Women Vote, part of the Emily’s List network, announced Thursday it was spending $2 million to target younger women in four battleground states.

One of the ads will describe Harris as “the district attorney who protected children from sexual predators” and “the attorney general who stood up to the big banks to protect homeowners and won.”

The Washington Post reported that MAGA Inc. is also planning to spend $32 million going after Harris before Labor Day, which will bring its total spending during that period to $72 million.

A new survey compiled after Biden dropped out of the race reveals Trump and Harris are tied in the crucial swing state of Michigan despite the former president’s previous lead by nearly double digits.

National polls have sent mixed signals, with some showing a tie and some showing a slight lead for either candidate.

The New York Times/Siena College released a new survey this week that found Trump leads Harris by only one percentage point among likely voters, 48% to 47%. Among registered voters, Trump led Harris by two percentage points.

Buttigieg ripped for ‘extraordinarily brazen’ slam on Trump that critics say was accidental ‘dunk’ on Biden

Biden Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg was ripped by conservatives on social media Friday after he mocked former President Trump for showing “weakness” by not agreeing to debate VP Harris in September.

“Has a presidential nominee ever agreed to a debate, then pulled out? Remarkable show of weakness here,” Buttigieg posted on X before being mocked by conservatives who argued that former President Trump had an agreement with Biden, not Harris, who dropped out of the race and thus effectively pulled out of the scheduled debate.

“Yes. Biden. Literally this past weekend,” CNN’s Scott Jennings posted on X.

“Joe Biden agreed to 2 debates, then pulled out of his entire campaign after the first one,” pollster Frank Luntz posted on X.

Trump said earlier this week he’s open to debating Vice President Harris more than once as the two face off in the 2024 presidential election.

“Absolutely. I’d want to. I think it’s important,” Trump said Tuesday when asked by Fox News’ Bill Melugin on a conference call with reporters if he would commit to debating Harris at least once.

“I would be willing to do more than one debate, actually,” Trump said. Minutes later, Trump noted, “I haven’t agreed to anything. I agreed to a debate with Joe Biden.”

The Trump campaign said on Thursday that he will not participate in a debate until Democrats finalize their nominee because it “would be inappropriate to schedule things with Harris because Democrats very well could still change their minds.”

VP Harris criticized that position from the Trump campaign as “backpedaling.”
