Peter Navarro to Newsmax: Biden Will Induce a Recession (Newsmax/"Eric Bolling The Balance")

By Nick Koutsobinas | Monday, 12 September 2022 09:58 PM EDT

Speaking to Newsmax ahead of the Labor Department's Consumer Price Index report, former White House trade adviser Peter Navarro tells Newsmax that the Biden administration will induce a recession, keeping wages down, in order to control inflation.

"The strategy here folks," Navarro says in his "Eric Bolling The Balance" appearance, "the way Biden and the Fed are gonna control out-of-control inflation is induce a recession, and keep your wages down."

"There's some estimates that just came out," Navarro adds, "that says it's gonna take two years to reduce inflation by 2%, and those two years the unemployment rate is gonna be close to 7%."

President Donald Trump's former trade adviser notes that one of the problems with the economy is the pandemic policies that continue to hamper supply chains.

"The problem is that our supply chains are broken, our supply chains are offshore, and therefore even more broken … Until we return to strategic energy dominance … we're going to be paying more and more and more for our cars or gasoline or natural gas."

"So there's all these forces gathering," Navarro concludes, "that Biden doesn't want to tell you about: he's looking at November. He's going to try to slip things by you. But folks, you know what's happening here. You're getting poorer by the day. Even if your wages are going up, inflation is going up faster."

Jon Voight on His Newsmax ‘Abraham Accords’ Special With Trump

Jon Voight on His Newsmax 'Abraham Accords' Special With Trump (Newsmax/''Eric Bolling The Balance'')

By Eric Mack | Monday, 12 September 2022 10:19 PM EDT

The Newsmax exclusive "The Abraham Accords" with former President Donald Trump debuts Sunday, hosted by conservative actor Jon Voight, detailing the historic move toward peace in the Middle East and the "grace" and "humility" of the former president.

"It's an unbelievable thing, a movement towards peace of this kind; it was unprecedented," Voight told Monday's "Eric Bolling The Balance" previewing the special presentation that will air Sunday at 8 p.m. Eastern time exclusively on Newsmax.

"It's really been quite a remarkable thing what happened — peace for the first time in that area was brought forth."

The special brings an in-depth interview with Trump and the Abraham Accords, which Voight said the mainstream media has tried to downplay to avoid praising him.

"When they signed the accords, the mainstream media, of course, didn't want to do anything to encourage any praise for Trump, so they kept it quiet," Voight told host Eric Bolling.

Despite avoiding the topic in this country, the achievements have been noted in the Middle East.

"All of the Middle East is opening up in this way because of this gesture, and of course it took years to do and it was very, very clever," Voight continued. "And in the piece, you'll see some of the architecture of that, and it's quite wonderful, wonderful to celebrate it. And what we did with this was we tell the story briefly of the history of the land of Israel.

"And President Trump was so embracing of this opportunity — just [to] sit down and talk about it, and yet he did an awful lot of listening."

The world is going to see a side of Trump they have not seen before, Voight promised.

"You'll see a side to him that you've never seen before, or most people haven't seen, a side of patience, of grace, even humility," Voight said. "I must say it's a very beautiful side to him that is exposed here, because most of the time he's talking about very rough stuff, and he's being attacked quite a lot. So this is a different kind of time with him.

"It'll be a revelation to many people. There is no coincidence that this happened under Donald Trump."

The contrast with the Biden administration is apparent, as revisiting Iran nuclear deal talks is putting the region back in peril, according to Voight.

"That part of the world is very difficult, and Iran is a great danger to Israel and has been," He said. "And we as a country during prior administrations have not been not been helpful in that way.

"But I'm a person who thinks on the positive, and I pray and I hope that we'll get through this, but those accords are monumental, and they do stand as the way to the way to proceed forward."

Voight hailed the special presentation brought to Newsmax viewers through a cooperative agreement between Voight, Trump, JLTV's (Jewish Life Television's) Stephen Paul and Newsmax CEO Christopher Ruddy.

"JLTV and Newsmax got together because Chris Ruddy and the owner of Jewish Life Television is a very close friend of Chris, and so they got together to produce this thing and it's quite an unusual event in itself," Voight said.

Justice Kagan Cautions Supreme Court Can Forfeit Legitimacy

MARK SHERMAN Monday, 12 September 2022 09:53 PM EDT

Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan on Monday cautioned that courts look political and forfeit legitimacy when they needlessly overturn precedent and decide more than they have to.

Speaking less than three months after a five-justice conservative majority overturned Roe v. Wade's constitutional guarantee of abortion access, Kagan said the public's view of the court can be damaged especially when changes in its membership lead to big changes in the law.

She stressed that she was not talking about any particular decision or even a string of rulings with which she disagreed.

Still, her remarks were similar to points made in dissenting opinions she wrote or contributed to in recent months, including in the abortion case.

"Judges create legitimacy problems for themselves … when they instead stray into places where it looks like they're an extension of the political process or when they’re imposing their own personal preferences," Kagan said at Temple Emanu-El in New York. The event was livestreamed.

The 62-year-old New Yorker struck a different tone from Chief Justice John Roberts, who spoke to a gathering of judges and lawyers in Colorado Springs, Colorado, last week.

"Simply because people disagree with an opinion is not a basis for questioning the legitimacy of the court," Roberts said.

The chief justice has been a consistent defender of the court's legitimacy against complaints that the court is not much different from the political branches of the government.

But Kagan said the court risks damaging its own legitimacy when big changes in the law follow changes in the court's membership.

The public has a right to expect, she said, "that changes in personnel don’t send the entire legal system up for grabs." Kagan joined the court in 2010, an appointee of President Barack Obama.

Three of the justices who are part of the court's conservative majority were appointed by President Donald Trump. They voted to overturn Roe, and also imposed limits on the Biden administration's efforts to fight climate change, expanded gun rights and weakened the separation between church and state.

In the court term that begins next month, the court will take up a challenge to the use of race in college admissions, just six years after the court reaffirmed affirmative action in higher education.

Kagan also briefly addressed the unprecedented leak of the draft opinion in the abortion case, saying it makes the justices' jobs much harder "when you might wake up tomorrow morning and there's an opinion on the front page of the newspapers."

She said she does not know if the investigation Roberts ordered in May has determined the source of the leak.

Biden: ‘Difficult 2 Years’ Ahead If Dems Lose Congress

Biden: 'Difficult 2 Years' Ahead If Dems Lose Congress Biden: 'Difficult 2 Years' Ahead If Dems Lose Congress (AP)

ZEKE MILLER Monday, 12 September 2022 09:09 PM EDT

President Joe Biden said Monday said if Democrats lose Congress after the upcoming midterm elections, it's going to be a “difficult two years,” and he's going to be spending a lot of time “with the veto pen.”

Biden was speaking at a Democratic National Committee reception in a swanky Boston apartment following his speech about his administration's efforts at ending cancer “as we know it.”

In the starkest terms yet, the president laid out how important the upcoming November midterm elections are. The U.S. Senate right now is split 50-50 with Vice President Kamala Harris as the tie-breaker. The House is 219-211 in favor of Democrats.

“If we lose the House and we lose the Senate it’s going to be a really difficult two years,” he told a crowd of about 30 donors and guests. "I’ll be spending more time with the veto pen than getting anything done.”

Republican National Committee Ronna McDaniel said Biden remained focused on "an out-of-touch and divisive agenda, one that benefits the wealthy, while struggling Americans pay more.”

In his remarks, the president also took aim at the “ MAGA Republicans,” continuing his sharp attacks against former Republican President Donald Trump and his supporters, an effort that has emboldened Democrats across the country ahead of the election.

He questioned the Republican platform and touted his own achievements but came back to how the Democrats couldn’t “afford to lose this off-year election.”

Monday's gathering raised about $2 million. The DNC said it has so far raised more than $255 million this cycle and more than $92 million so far this year, the most at this point in any year.

Dick Morris to Newsmax: Trump Docs Could Be Used Against FBI in 2023

Dick Morris to Newsmax: Trump Docs Could Be Used Against FBI in 2023 (Newsmax/"Rob Schmitt Tonight")

By Jay Clemons | Monday, 12 September 2022 08:59 PM EDT

Political consultant Dick Morris, who's been busy touting "The Comeback," a New York Times best-selling book about former President Donald Trump, doesn't need much goading when it comes to making Trump-affiliated prognostications on Newsmax.

While appearing on "Rob Schmitt Tonight" Monday, Morris rattled off four sequential predictions involving Trump and his ongoing document dispute with the Justice Department (DOJ), regarding sensitive materials that allegedly contain "classified" or "top-secret" markings.

Morris' predictions include:

  • U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon's decision to grant the Trump team's special master request will be sustained, after the DOJ appeal.
  • There won't be enough incriminating documents to formally indict Trump in a grand-jury setting.
  • The Republicans will claim the majority in the House and Senate chambers for the upcoming midterm elections (Nov. 8). Right now, the Democrats control the House and Senate.
  • Starting as early as January 2023, House GOP investigators will put the FBI and DOJ under further scrutiny, in terms of explaining or justifying the FBI's Aug. 8 raid on Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort, along with the House hearings on the Jan. 6, 2021 unrest at the Capitol.

"And these Mar-a-Lago documents [that Trump possesses] will be Exhibits A, B, and C in the case against the FBI," quips Morris.

Regarding the document dispute, Morris believes Trump's legal team has a strong case of historical precedent on their side — due to the wide-ranging scope of the Presidential Records Act.

Morris also asserts the FBI had a specific reason in raiding Trump's home last month, on a day when the former president would knowingly be out of town.

"There is so much stuff the FBI did" during Trump's time in office — from the Russia "hoax" to the "phony" FISA warrants which led to spying at Trump Tower — "and [Trump] believes those documents will prove this," says Morris.

The above statement then prompted Morris to add the FBI wants to possess the potential game-changing documents "not to use them against Trump … but to stop Trump from using [past FBI documents] against them."

UPDATED 4:40 PM PT – Monday, September 12, 2022

On Monday, Trump shared a report from the Daily Caller, saying the evidence of dead people voting in the 2020 election is real. The report is citing a voter database from the Public Interest Legal Foundation.

It discovered that 350,000 dead people were registered to vote in the 2020 elections. The report added that these dead voters were sent mail-in ballots, after which their family members and ballot harvesters then cast a vote on their behalf, which is illegal.

This information comes just days after Trump told his supporters in Pennsylvania that the 2020 election was stolen.

“The 2020 election was rigged and stolen and now our country is being destroyed by people who got into office through cheating and through fraud,” Trump said.

In a separate statement, the former President came to the defense of Politico publisher, Mathias Döpfner. Döpfner is under fire for saying he wished Trump would have won in 2020. Trump said that in fact –he won big.

A Texas woman has been arrested on federal charges for allegedly threatening U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, who approved the special master appointment in the ongoing document dispute between the Justice Department (DOJ) and former President Donald Trump.

According to the Sept. 6 affidavit, an FBI agent's report says that Tiffani Shea Gish left three threatening and vulgar voicemails for Cannon using the pseudonym Evelyn Salt, a character in the movie "Salt."

Gish reportedly told Cannon that "Donald Trump has been disqualified long ago, and he's marked for assassination, you're helping him, ma'am."

The accused woman faces two charges related to threatening a federal official. Also, Gish has been ordered to be detained, pending trial after the initial court appearance.

Five full weeks have passed since the FBI's Aug. 8 raid of Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort, where federal officials reportedly seized 11 sets of highly sensitive materials which may have contained "classified" or "top secret" markings.

However, it's still unknown how many, if any, of the presidential documents being stored at Trump's Florida home had been previously declassified, prior to Trump leaving the White House in January 2021.

Last week, Judge Cannon granted the Trump team's request for a special master to execute an independent review of the presidential materials in question.

The DOJ is currently appealing Cannon's ruling.

According to the criminal complaint involving Gish, the accused apparently suffers from "severe mental impairments with symptoms including paranoia and delusions."

Also, the criminal complaint says Gish admitted to making the calls and telling authorities she was the only one with access to the phone that left messages with Judge Cannon.

According to Axios, the other Gish voicemails earmarked for Judge Cannon included the following statements:

Message #1: "I'm also Trump's hitman, so consider it a bullet to your head from Donald Trump himself."

Message #2: "You f***up one f****** thing for me … I'm going to take my ass to f****** Florida, and I'm going to personally throw a bullet to your f****** head in front of your kids."

On Tuesday, Gish will reportedly participate in a competency hearing.

It backed either of its own two candidates or Dearie, it said in a court filing, but rejected a second Trump pick, Paul Huck.

DOJ Issues 40 Subpoenas, Phone Seizures From Top Trump Aides

By Jack Gournell | Monday, 12 September 2022 06:32 PM EDT

The Justice Department has in the past week ramped up action in the investigation of the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, issuing about 40 subpoenas to top aides and lower-level staffers to former President Donald Trump and seizing phones and other electronic devices, The New York Times reported Monday.

Top Trump advisers Boris Epshteyn and Mike Roman both said their phones were seized, according to the Times. Trump's former social media director Dan Scavino reportedly is among those who received a subpoena.

According to the Times, at least 20 of the subpoenas sought information about the so-called alternate electors plan and communication with those who took part, including Trump lawyers Rudy Giuliani and John Eastman.

Former New York City Police Commissioner Bernie Kerik received a subpoena as well, according to his lawyer Timothy Parlatore. Kerik has offered to testify, Parlatore told the Times.

Other subpoenas seek information about the activities of Trump's Save America PAC, which has been his main means of fundraising since leaving office.

Also sough were records that the person being subpoenaed had turned over to the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack, the Times quoted "a person familiar with the matter" as saying.

Dick Morris to Newsmax: Trump’s Docs a ‘Smoking Gun’ of FBI, DOJ Collusion

Dick Morris to Newsmax: Trump's Docs a 'Smoking Gun' of FBI, DOJ Collusion Dick Morris Dick Morris. (Newsmax)

By Nick Koutsobinas | Monday, 12 September 2022 05:38 PM EDT

Speculating to Newsmax on the documents the FBI took in its raid on Mar-a-Lago, Dick Morris tells "American Agenda" that the documents are a "smoking gun," illustrating collusion between the FBI and the Department of Justice.

"I believe that the primary motivation of the FBI in breaking in and seizing those documents" is that the agency is "trying to defend itself against Trump's condemnation," Morris says.

"I think," Morris continues, "Trump took those documents because he believed that they contain evidence of a smoking gun of FBI and DOJ collusion in the Russia-hoax scandal, in the tapping of his phone as president, and getting FISA warrants — on perjury grounds — to surveil his staff."

"I think the reason the FBI raided was to get those documents back before Trump made them public."

According to NBC, on Monday, former President Donald Trump's legal team requested a judge continue to block the Department of Justice from reviewing classified documents seized at Trump's estate.

On Sept. 5, U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon granted the former president's request to appoint a special master while, at the same time, blocking the government from using the classified files as part of its investigation.

"As this Court correctly observed," a filing signed by Trump's lawyer Christopher Kise reads, "a criminal investigation of this import — an investigation of a former President of the United States by the administration of his political rival — requires enhanced vigilance to ensure fairness, transparency, and maintenance of the public trust. Given the significance of this investigation, the Court recognizes, as does President Trump, that it must be conducted in the public view."

Dating back as far as 2018, former Republican Rep. Devin Nunes, Calif., the then chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, issued a memo detailing, according to The Washington Post, that ''the FBI may have relied on politically motivated or questionable sources to justify its request for a secret surveillance warrant in the investigation'' of Trump. That began in 2016.

As Matt Taibbi wrote in Sept. 2021, the ''case against [Michael] Sussmann," who worked as a lawyer for Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign, "is weak because his alleged crime was lying to the FBI, when the FBI knew full well he was working for the Clinton campaign.''

In late May 2022, Sussmann was acquitted for supplying the FBI with false statements alluding to Trump colluding with Russia.

"The Clinton campaign systematically," Taibbi adds, "planted phony stories about things like the Trump-Alfa business and Carter Page's supposed role as a Trump-Russia conduit; the FBI went along with the fiction that inquiries launched on these matters did not originate as paid research from the Clinton campaign; and a parade of news media figures were culpable either as dupes or witting participants in these frauds, which in the case of the Alfa stunt was executed in a hurry to affect a presidential election."

Biden Trying to Bypass Congress on Iran Deal?

The Biden administration may be going back on a promise to have any Iran nuclear agreement approved by Congress — and evading the law in the process, according to an opinion piece published Monday at The Hill.

State Department Special Representative for Iran Rob Malley in May vowed to give any prospective agreement with Iran to Congress for review as required by the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act of 2015 (INARA.)

The act says that any agreement with Iran having to do with its nuclear program must be sent by the president in full to Congress within five days. It also prescribes the procedures Congress must go through for review and the expedited voting process if it chooses to do so.

But the authors of the Hill piece, Matthew Zweig and Gabriel Noronha, who have national security and foreign policy backgrounds, say that the Biden White House may be hoping to avoid a congressional vote "by claiming that it is merely returning to the Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action (JCPOA), which went through the INARA review process in 2015."

Though they are submitting the text of the agreement for review, the administration might argue, Congress does not need to vote on it again.

"Democratic leadership in Congress may be tempted to indulge in such an argument and use their majority positions to avoid a tough vote as the midterms approach," they write, adding, "That would be a dereliction of Congress' important oversight role."

The INARA was written with the idea that the president might attempt "chicanery," the authors note, pointing out that the law was passed in 2015 while the JCPOA was in the final stages of talks.

"Once the Obama administration made clear its intent to circumvent Congress and not submit the agreement as a treaty, lawmakers of both parties demanded a say, noting the scale of U.S. commitments under the deal," they write. "An overwhelming majority of Congress — 98 senators and 400 House members — ultimately voted to pass INARA, thereby ensuring their ability to review the agreement. Crucially, Congress took pains to define the term 'agreement' broadly to prevent the Obama administration from circumventing lawmakers."

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Monday threw cold water on a new deal in the near future, but according to The Hill, the apparent working terms of the new agreement are reported to involve major amendments to the 2015 JCPOA that was dissolved by then-President Donald Trump more than four years ago.

"From a statutory point of view, reentering a substantially amended agreement effectively amounts to 'reaching an agreement' under INARA, thereby triggering the law's transmittal and review requirements," according to the Hill authors.

Biden Boosts Offshore Drilling Safety Regulations

President Joe Biden's administration on Monday reimposed safety regulations from the Obama administration that were relaxed by former President Donald Trump.

The Obama administration instituted stricter safety rules for drilling after the Deepwater Horizon spill in 2010 killed 11 people and resulted in over 130 million gallons of fuel leaking into the Gulf of Mexico. The Trump administration decreased the standards imposed by Obama in 2019.

"This proposed rulemaking will help ensure that offshore energy development utilizes the latest science and technology to keep people safe," Interior Secretary Deb Haaland told reporters on Monday, adding that the move will "improve conditions for offshore workers and the public."

She also chided the previous administration for working to "tip the balance of oversight of offshore activities back to the oil and gas industry."

"Offshore drilling is inherently dirty and dangerous, and blowout preventers are not reliable," Diane Hoskins, campaign director for the conservation group Oceana, said in a statement, according to Bloomberg. "While the new safety measures being proposed are a step in the right direction, no operator can promise there won't be another disaster like BP's Deepwater Horizon blowout."

Pataki to Newsmax: Oz Should Press ‘Strange’ Fetterman Into Senate Debate

Pataki to Newsmax: Oz Should Press 'Strange' Fetterman Into Senate Debate George Pataki Former New York GOP Gov. George Pataki. (Getty Images)

By Jay Clemons | Monday, 12 September 2022 03:51 PM EDT

Former New York Gov. George Pataki said on Newsmax he believes it's completely in bounds for inquisitive Pennsylvania voters — regardless of political affiliation — to wonder about state Lt. Gov. John Fetterman's health in the final weeks of the high-stakes U.S. Senate race.

Pataki certainly wishes Fetterman the best of luck in his effort to recover from an apparent summertime stroke, "but the question is: Will [Fetterman] continue to be a strong advocate for the people of Pennsylvania? It's a very legitimate issue," Pataki told Newsmax Monday afternoon, while appearing on "American Agenda" with host Bob Sellers.

Only Fetterman's doctors can speak to the Senate candidate's condition in great detail. At the same time, Pataki says the voting public is free to interpret Fetterman's viral speech from this past weekend, when the Democrat appeared slow and confused during his time at the podium.

Forget about politics for a moment, explains Pataki, a Republican who occupied the governor's office from 1995-2006.

At the core, "this is [still] somebody who is far left, very far left, a strange person," the former New York governor said of Fetterman. "The Democratic leadership [initially] did not want him as the nominee."

Most tracking polls have Fetterman leading over Republican Senate candidate, Dr. Mehmet Oz.

However, Oz has been gathering steam of late, thanks to a recent rally featuring former President Donald Trump. It's also possible that Fetterman's condition has become a keynote concern among Pennsylvania voters.

Combine Fetterman's hazy health and his "far-left" policies," and Pataki plainly reasons that, "Dr. Oz would be a strong voice as senator for Pennsylvania and the United States."

Oz's critics point to him previously residing in neighboring New Jersey, but Pataki doesn't see that as a game-changing issue — especially since Hillary Clinton already set that precedent in 2008, when Clinton won a U.S. Senate seat in New York.

The people criticizing Oz today "were the same ones cheering on Hillary Clinton the loudest when she ran for senator of New York — without living in New York a day in her life," says Pataki. "So, it all really comes down to politics," and which side one supports.

Pataki also believes that Oz should continue to press Fetterman for one-on-one debates before the Nov. 8 midterms.

In this age of viral infections, pandemic worries, and drawn-out arguments about socialized medicine, Pataki says having a "medical expert [in the Senate] would be a tremendous thing for the American people."

Debate or no debate, Pataki suggests Oz should remain aggressive with his campaign, while purposely drawing a clear line of distinction — from the standpoints of messaging, mobility, and work ethic — between himself and Fetterman.

"I fear that Fetterman is running a Joe Biden-esque, hide-in-the-basement, avoid-talking-about-the-issues type of campaign," says Pataki.

The Republicans and Democrats are deadlocked in a 50-all tie for Senate seats, heading into the midterms.
