Trump Reflects: Running for President Was a Good Idea

Former President Donald Trump tells New York Times correspondent Maggie Haberman in her upcoming book that running for president was good for him.

"The question I get asked more than any other question: 'If you had it to do again, would you have done it?' The answer is, yeah, I think so. Because here's the way I look at it. I have so many rich friends and nobody knows who they are," Trump stated, according to an excerpt from the book in a Sunday edition of The Atlantic.

The excerpt comes as a collection of three interviews Haberman had with Trump following his leave from the White House.

According to the excerpt, Trump mentions how easy life would be had he not run but notes that he enjoyed "getting things done" as president.

While Haberman's book "Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America" is expected to be published next month, the book is anticipated to contain interviews on such matters as to why, according to Trump, Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., "kisses my ass" or how Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., is a "piece of s***."

Despite the title, Trump said that he "loved" being interviewed by Haberman. "She's like my psychiatrist."

Dick Morris: Dems to ‘Dump’ Biden, Pick up Hillary in ’24

Dick Morris: Dems to 'Dump' Biden, Pick up Hillary in '24

(Newsmax/"Wake Up America")

By Nick Koutsobinas | Sunday, 25 September 2022 04:51 PM EDT

Former President Bill Clinton's ex-adviser, Dick Morris, predicted on Sunday that the Democrat establishment will "dump" President Joe Biden in favor of Hillary Clinton for a 2024 presidential run.

Speaking om "Cats Roundtable" on WABC radio, Morris told the show's host, John Catsimatidis, that the 79-year-old Biden would not seek another term.

"It's pretty clear now the Democrats are preparing the party to dump Biden," Morris said. The author of "The Return: Trump's Big 2024 Comeback" then went on to say the Democrats would run Clinton as a centrist if no other candidate emerged.

Note: Get Dick Morris' new book "The Return" on Trump's secret plan for 2024. See It Here!

"Once Biden pulls out, the polling will show that the Democrats are leaning toward some crazy radical like Gavin Newsom, Bernie Sanders, maybe even AOC [Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez] herself.

"That's going to drive the Democratic Party leaders to go to Hillary and say, 'Hey, look. Please run again. We need you to save us from the crazy left,'" Morris continued. "'Otherwise, we'll have Sanders as our candidate. We'll lose Congress by a ton. And we'll get wiped out in the presidential race.'"

Despite Morris's prediction, the 74-year-old Clinton has insisted she would not run for president again.

Still, Morris insists that Clinton is "waiting for the wipeout" of Democrats in the November midterms "to justify her candidacy and say, 'Only I can save you from this happening again.'"

Rep. Stefanik Denies Claims of Party Divisions; Blames Dems, Media

Rep. Stefanik Denies Claims of Party Divisions; Blames Dems, Media

By Sandy Fitzgerald | Sunday, 25 September 2022 03:20 PM EDT

Rep. Elise Stefanik, who chairs the House Republican Conference, denied reports indicating that more conservative members in the chamber feel like they are being taken for granted by other members of the GOP, and she accused the media and Democrats of making such claims while "trying to divide us."

"We are united, the House Republicans," Stefanik, R-N.Y., told Fox News Sunday, adding that all members can provide input to the party's agenda.

She also rejected arguments from Democrats that the party's new "Commitment to America" agenda, released this past week, does not include a fully detailed plan.

"There are ample details," she said, noting the agenda plan outlines proposals that will reduce inflation through cuts to government spending, lowering energy costs and introducing bills that support a parental bill of rights, law enforcement and eliminating spending for 87,000 new IRS agents outlined in President Joe Biden's Inflation Reduction Act.

But Democrats, said Stefanik, have no plan but are "attacking us because they have created crises across this country."

Stefanik Sunday also defended moves by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to transport migrants to Democrat-led cities and states, including New York City, Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts and Washington, D.C.

Her defense came after a slam by House Democratic Caucus chair Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., who has called on GOP governors to "start behaving like governors and stop behaving like human traffickers."

"Hakeem Jeffries should start acting like a leader rather than a partisan hack," Stefanik said, while blaming the situation at the border and the growth of immigration issues as being "the result of Joe Biden's failure" after "we had the most secure border" under former President Donald Trump.

"We know the policies that work: build the wall and catch and release," she said. "Republicans will absolutely work to secure the border."

There were "significant inroads" made under Trump, but illegal crossings have "skyrocketed under Joe Biden."

"We were addressing the crisis and that has unraveled since Day 1 under Joe Biden, creating this crisis," she said. "The American people know that, and they will hold Democrats accountable for this [in] November."

Barrasso Rejects Administration’s Arguments on Iran Nuclear Deal

Barrasso Rejects Administration's Arguments on Iran Nuclear Deal (Newsmax)

By Sandy Fitzgerald | Sunday, 25 September 2022 12:50 PM EDT

There are no arguments that are convincing enough for the United States to keep trying to rejoin the Iran nuclear deal, Sen. John Barrasso, who chairs the Senate Republican Conference, said Sunday.

"No deal with Iran is a good deal," the Wyoming Republican said in an interview with ABC News's "This Week with George Stephanopoulos." "Iran is a state sponsor of terrorism. They continue to claim 'death to America.' We cannot allow them to have a nuclear weapon."

But, he said that he's "always felt this administration was too eager for a nuclear deal or any deal with Iran. I think we should not go forward with one. If they do, it needs to come to the Senate for ratification."

The Biden administration, Barrasso added, "wants to send tens of billions of dollars to Iran for a deal that I think is going to be a bad deal for America."

His comments came in response to an interview on the Sunday program with national security adviser Jake Sullivan, who rejected the idea of backing away from talks on the nuclear deal because of the number of protests that are growing over the rights of women and the citizens of Iran.

"The fact that we are in nuclear talks is in no way slowing us down from speaking out and acting on behalf of the people of Iran," Sullivan said. "We’re not going to slow down one inch in our defense and advocacy for the rights of the women and citizens of Iran."

Meanwhile, Barrasso discussed the ongoing call for resources for Ukraine to keep fighting against Russia and disagreed with the contention of Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., who warned this week that if Republicans win control of Congress, they'll hold up additional aid.

"There continues to be bipartisan support in the House and the Senate for weapons to Ukraine," said Barrasso. "I thought President [Joe] Biden was right at the United Nations when he told other world leaders they had a responsibility to do more in terms of weapons to Ukraine and condemning Russia because Putin will not stop until he is stopped."

There has also been bipartisan criticism of the administration for being too slow with weapons to Ukraine, said Barrasso, adding that Putin has been using energy as a weapon.

"We ought to be producing more American energy to help our European allies, also to help get prices down at home," he said. "

However, Barrasso said he's not sure if Putin's power is stable.

"He's in a deep hole right now and he’s dug this hole," he said. "I thought his statement to the country there was desperate. It didn't show confidence or strength, and desperate people do desperate things. That's why I think we've seen this nuclear threat."

Meanwhile, the Foreign Relations Committee, of which Barrasso is a member, will hold a hearing Wednesday to discuss options on sanctions, and will have a secure briefing Thursday to examine what is happening on the ground in Ukraine, he said.

"China is watching closely, and what we do will have an impact on what China decides to do with regard to Taiwan," the senator said.

Finally, Barrasso discussed the investigation into former President Donald Trump's handling of classified documents and said that he doesn't "know anything about the rules for when a president declassifies documents and information.

He also said he wants the Department of Justice to speak to senators, in a classified setting, about the raid, and rejected Trump's comments that a president can declassify documents by "thinking" about them, telling Stephanopoulos that "I don't think a president can declassify documents by saying so, by thinking about it."

Tom Fitton to Newsmax: Biden Using COVID ‘Emergency’ for Political Gain

Tom Fitton to Newsmax: Biden Using COVID 'Emergency' for Political Gain (Newsmax/"Wake Up America")

By Sandy Fitzgerald | Sunday, 25 September 2022 12:07 PM EDT

President Joe Biden is minimizing the COVID pandemic for political purposes by saying it's over, but wants to keep the emergency declaration alive to keep his spending push open, "also to help himself with the election," Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said on Newsmax Sunday.

"This is a case where the president wanted to have his cake and eat it too," but that also gives people who challenge some of his moves, including student loan forgiveness, a stronger argument, Fitton told Newsmax's "Wake Up America."

"They're using the pandemic emergency declaration as an excuse, rather than as a reason for, in the case of loan forgiveness, granting $1 trillion in benefits to American citizens and others without congressional authorization," Fitton argued. "And then, of course, you are on the other side of that, not only at the federal level but at the state and local level with many vaccine mandates that seemed to me to depend on the theory that there's an emergency so people have to be forced to take an irreversible medical treatment."

But when Biden says that the pandemic is over, he added, "it doesn't necessarily mean it's over as a matter of government policy."

Fitton also on Sunday discussed New York Attorney General Letitia James' civil lawsuit against former President Donald Trump and called it an "abuse of power."

"If I were Trump, I would push back hard against this abuse of power by the attorney general, going after him on trumped-up charges a month or so before an election," said Fitton. "It doesn't get any worse than this, or maybe it does with the [Mar-a-Lago] raid, in terms of political abuse of power."

Fitton compared James' lawsuit against Trump, his business, and three of his adult children to when other efforts "harassed him on his foundation and they shut it down."

"That is the goal here, which is to shut down his major business, the Trump Organization, through which he conducts most of his real estate.," said Fitton. "What they're doing is they're going after him over his real estate valuations, which anyone who owns a home knows rise and fall depending on the time of day or even the weather."

Further, James campaigned on the promise to target Trump, said Fitton.

When asked if Trump can countersue to recoup the legal fees he's spending, Fitton said the former president is trying to keep his business open, but "someone like [James] should be held accountable."

"Prosecutors, not only in New York but you have the outrageous prosecutor in Fulton County, Ga., and of course, you got the DOJ, and they have to be reined in," said Fitton. "Governors can do that, and certainly Congress can as well here in D.C."

ABC Poll: 56 Percent Majority of Dems Don’t Want Biden to Run in ’24

ABC Poll: 56 Percent Majority of Dems Don't Want Biden to Run in '24 (Newsmax)

By Eric Mack | Sunday, 25 September 2022 11:00 AM EDT

A "clear" majority of President Joe Biden's own Democratic Party registered voters (56%) want the party of nominate a new candidate in the 2024 presidential election, according to the latest poll by The Washington Post/ABC News.

Just 35% of registered Democrat voters and Democrat-leaning independents want Biden to run again in the next presidential election, a flashing alarm for midterm Democrats. Republicans edged Democrats by 1 point on the generic House midterm ballot among U.S. adults (47%-46%) and a 5-point edge to Republicans (51%-46%) among likely voters in the poll.

In a prospective rematch between Biden and former President Donald Trump, the race is a statistical tie within the margin of error. Biden leads by 2 points (48%-46%) among U.S. adults, while Trump leads by 2 points (48%-46%) among voters actually registered to vote legally.

Among the issues, Democrats are voting on abortion, while most other American adults are voting on the economy in general and inflation specifically – both which weigh in favor of Republicans – according to ABC News.

Biden is 14 points under water on his job approval (39%-53%), and 21 points under water on his handling of the economy (36%-57%).

When a sitting president had more than 50% approval in a midterm election, the ruling party loses on average 14 seats in Congress – and when approval is under water like Biden's is right now, the sitting president's party loses an average of 37 seats, according to ABC News analysis.

"It's the economy stupid," according to a famed campaign mantra of Democrat strategist James Carville which is bad news for Democrats, as 74% of adults say the economy is in bad shape – up from 58% in the spring of 2021 after Biden first took office.

Also, 84% call the economy a top voting issue for them on congressional ballots, while 76% say the same for inflation and 63% call abortion a key voting issue.

The Washington Post/ABC News poll surveyed 1,006 adults and 908 registered voters Sept. 18-21. The results have a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

Fred Fleitz to Newsmax: Biden’s UN Speech ‘Probably Infuriated’ Putin

Fred Fleitz to Newsmax: Biden's UN Speech 'Probably Infuriated' Putin (Newsmax/"Wake Up America")

By Sandy Fitzgerald | Sunday, 25 September 2022 10:42 AM EDT

President Joe Biden should emphasize de-escalating the war in Ukraine, but his speech to the United Nations General Assembly last week "probably infuriated" Russian President Vladimir Putin "and will cause him to dig in further," Fred Fleitz, the vice-chair of the America First Policy Institute Center for American Security, said Sunday on Newsmax.

"Biden should be emphasizing de-escalating and a cease-fire and nobody wants to talk about that because we don't want to see Ukraine making concessions," Fleitz told Newsmax's "Wake Up America." "But when a megalomaniac threatens to use nuclear weapons, we have to take that seriously. We cannot let that happen. We can't allow a situation to develop where this madman decides to go down that road."

Pushing Putin to the point where he would consider the use of nuclear weapons is not the answer, Fleitz said, but he's "worried that's where we're going."

Fleitz, a Newsmax contributor and former chief of staff to the National Security Council, said he found Biden's speech "disappointing."

"We know that as president of the United States he had to speak out on the war, Ukraine, and the things Putin is saying, but this over-the-top series of condemnations, this diatribe against Putin, this was not helpful right now," said Fleitz. "This isn't going to convince Putin to do anything."

Instead, Biden's speech was made while he was "compensating for his weak foreign policy and his weak leadership," said Fleitz. "He wanted to act tough on the world stage … what we need now is an effort to de-escalate to get Putin to the bargaining table, not to engage in name-calling."

Meanwhile, nobody knows how the United States would respond if Putin does deploy a nuclear weapon, said Fleitz.

"Tactical nuclear weapons are part of Russian military doctrine," he said. "We don't have weapons like that, or maybe we have a couple of hundred. They have thousands of them to be used on the battlefield."

During the Trump administration, work was being done to develop such weapons through the defense budget, Fleitz added, but he believes the current White House is working to withdraw that funding.

"It worries me that once Putin crosses the line to use one of these weapons, he may use more of them," said Fleitz. "It also will open the floodgates for other nations to think that tactical nukes are OK on the battlefield, and you can be sure that China will be watching that."

Fleitz also spoke out about the administration's push on climate change, after Secretary of State Antony Blinken's complaints last week that Putin's invasion of Ukraine is "distracting" the United Nation from "working on the serious issues that we all want to focus on like preventing a climate catastrophe."

"It's just mind-boggling, the insane things we hear people from this administration saying," Fleitz responded. "Climate change is not a top national security threat. The fact that they think the conflict in Ukraine is distracting them from climate change just goes to show why our national security is in such trouble right now, and it's why we've lost so much prestige on the world stage."

Hillary Compares Trump to Hitler, His Supporters to Nazis

By Nick Koutsobinas | Saturday, 24 September 2022 06:12 PM EDT

Hillary Clinton on Friday likened former President Donald Trump's supporters to Nazis, and Trump himself to Adolf Hitler.

"I remember as a young student, you know, trying to figure out, how people get basically drawn in by Hitler. How did that happen? I'd watch newsreels and I'd see this guy standing up there ranting and raving, and people shouting and raising their arms. I thought, 'What's happened to these people?'" Clinton said Friday at the Texas Tribune Festival in Austin, miming the Nazi Sig Heil salute.

"You saw the rally in Ohio the other night," she continued, according to a New York Post report. "Trump is there ranting and raving for more than an hour, and you have these rows of young men with their arms raised. I thought, 'What is going on?'"

While there are known reports of attendees at Trump's Youngstown, Ohio rally for GOP senate candidate J.D. Vance sig heil-ing, as the Post notes, there were attendees with their index fingers pointed to the ceiling. Some have taken it as a reference to a Qanon conspiracy theory. Others questioned if it may have been ostentation about being "No. 1."

"My fellow citizens," Trump said amidst dramatic music, "this incredible journey we're on together has only just begun, and it is time to start talking about greatness for our country again. We are one movement, one people, one family, and one glorious American nation."

One of Trump's representatives called the finger-pointing a "dopey conspiracy."

"As usual," Trump spokesman Taylor Budowich says, "the media is working hand in hand with the Democrats weeks before an election."

"It seems like perpetual-failed-candidate Hillary Clinton's basket of deplorables has run stale, not unlike herself. It's pathetic, it's divisive, and it is further cementing her legacy of cringe."

During the 2016 presidential run, Hillary Clinton referred to Trump's supporters as a "basket of deplorables."

Clinton's comments come after President Joe Biden at the beginning of Sept. referred to the "MAGA" voters of Trump as a threat to the United States.

McLaughlin Poll: Trump a GOP Runaway, Tops Biden by 4, Harris by 9 (Newsmax)

By Eric Mack | Saturday, 24 September 2022 06:26 PM EDT

The midterm numbers look bad for Democrats, good for Republicans, and exceedingly strong for former President Donald Trump's potential 2024 presidential campaign, according to the latest McLaughlin & Associates poll released Friday.

Trump not only leads the Republican 2024 primary, but he also leads both President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris in separate hypothetical matchups.

Among likely 2024 Republican primary voters, 71% want Trump to run again, and if he did run again, 86% of Republicans would support him. That includes a majority of 64% who said they would strongly support him if he ran.

"Thank you!" Trump wrote Saturday on Truth Social, hailing the poll results.

Trump drew 55% support in a large GOP 2024 primary field, leading Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis (18%) by 37% points.

If Trump were to face off against Biden, he leads the sitting incumbent president by 4 points 49%-45%, almost drawing a majority of support. Against Harris, Trump gets the majority at 51%, leading the sitting vice president (42%) by 9 points.

In the far more near future, there were a number of warning signs for Democrats in these midterm elections this November:

  • Republicans nearly draw a majority (49%) on a generic midterm ballot, leading Democrats (45%) by 4 points.
  • 49% say they are "worse off" under Biden and Pelosi, while just 40% say they were "better off."
  • 68% say they disagree with Biden's claim inflation is "zero."
  • 53% believe in smaller government versus bigger government 32%.
  • 81% say they have been "impacted" by inflation.
  • 75% say they believe in capitalism versus socialism 10%.

The McLaughlin & Associates polled 1,000 likely voters Sept. 17-22.

Alan Dershowitz to Newsmax: AG James Violating ‘American Way’ of Justice

Alan Dershowitz to Newsmax: AG James Violating 'American Way' of Justice Alan Dershowitz to Newsmax: AG James Violating 'American Way' of Justice

By Eric Mack | Saturday, 24 September 2022 12:06 PM EDT

Democrat Attorney General Letitia James is following Joseph Stalin's dictatorial playbook fulfilling her campaign promise to sue former President Donald Trump, legal expert Alan Dershowitz warned on Newsmax.

"Look, let's be very clear about this: If Donald Trump hadn't run for president and if he weren't running for president now, do you think she'd be doing this investigation?" Dershowitz told Saturday's "America Right Now." "She ran on the campaign of getting Trump – she wants to get Trump one way or another.

"It's much different, obviously, in degree to what Stalin and Lavrentiy Beria said to each other. You know Beria said to Stalin: Show me the man, and I'll find you the crime. This is an exact example of that. She went out to get him and then she looked for crimes.

"That's not the American way."

James did not find a crime she could prosecute criminally, but he was able to fulfill his campaign promise to sue Trump, but Dershowitz told host Tom Basile there is just no victim in what she has alleged.

Dershowitz admitted "I don't know" who the victim in this lawsuit against Trump is.

"Certainly, it's not the big banks," Dershowitz told Basile. "They have an obligation, if somebody wants to sell me a house, and he says it's worth $1 million and Zillow says it's worth $500,000, it's my obligation to check what it's worth. Banks have enormous resources to be able to check.

"Takes the big case that Letitia James focuses on: 40 Wall Street. Trump says it's worth half a billion. She says it's worth only a quarter of a billion. It's an easy issue to assess. You go and do the square footage. You figure out how much square footage is selling for in Wall Street at this particular point in time, and you do your own evaluation."

Even if there might be a issue on the tax audit, the case would be "daunting" for the government to prove wrongdoing, Dershowitz added.

"We'll see where the facts come out, but again, nobody should ever be targeted based on the fact that they may be running for president," Dershowitz concluded. "That's just wrong and it would be just as wrong if they targeted Joe Biden, or if they had targeted Hillary Clinton."

Democrat Attorney General Letitia James is following Joseph Stalin's dictatorial playbook fulfilling her campaign promise to sue former President Donald Trump, legal expert Alan Dershowitz warned on Newsmax.

"Look, let's be very clear about this: If Donald Trump hadn't run for president and if he weren't running for president now, do you think she'd be doing this investigation?" Dershowitz asked on Saturday's "America Right Now." "She ran on the campaign of getting Trump. She wants to get Trump one way or another.

"It's much different, obviously, in degree to what Stalin and Lavrentiy Beria said to each other. You know Beria said to Stalin: Show me the man, and I'll find you the crime. This is an exact example of that. She went out to get him and then she looked for crimes.

"That's not the American way."

James did not find a crime she could prosecute criminally, but she was able to fulfill her campaign promise to sue Trump. However, Dershowitz told host Tom Basile there is just no victim in what she has alleged.

Dershowitz admitted "I don't know" who the victim in this lawsuit against Trump is.

"Certainly, it's not the big banks," Dershowitz told Basile. "They have an obligation: If somebody wants to sell me a house, and he says it's worth $1 million and Zillow says it's worth $500,000, it's my obligation to check what it's worth.

"We'll see where the facts come out, but again, nobody should ever be targeted based on the fact that they may be running for president," Dershowitz said. "That's just wrong, and it would be just as wrong if they targeted Joe Biden or if they had targeted Hillary Clinton."

Dick Morris to Newsmax: Dems Try to Beat Trump in Court, Rather Than Ballot Box donald trump applauds on stage at a save america rally in youngstown, ohio

By Eric Mack | Saturday, 24 September 2022 11:28 AM EDT

Democrats have already began subverting the next presidential election against former President Donald Trump, attempting to litigate him to death – persecution by prosecution – instead of trying to beat him at the ballot box, presidential adviser Dick Morris told Newsmax.

Note: Get Dick Morris' new book "The Return" on Trump's secret plan for 2024. See It Here!

"All of this is going to backfire and is backfiring, because independents see it as a desperate political tactic, and they do not approve of determining your elections in court by lawsuit – they believe in people voting," Morris told "Saturday Report" about New York Attorney General Letitia James' civil lawsuit against Trump, his children, and his companies.

"And the Democrats are really trying to foreclose that by suing Trump over everything they can find. I hope the guy never littered or jaywalks, because those charges are coming next."

Morris called James fulfilling her campaign promise to sue Trump "ridiculous," and ultimately just proved predictions in "The Return" to be prophetic.

"I point out in my book, 'The Return: Trump's Big 2024 Comeback,' that the Democrats have given up opposing Trump politically," Morris told host Rita Cosby. "They know he's going to get the Republican nomination. They know he's got a lock on it. They know he's going to run again, and they know that Republicans are probably going to win because the economy is in such terrible shape.

"So this is Plan D. The fallback is to litigate him to death, persecution by prosecution."

QAnon Believer From Iowa Convicted on All 7 Jan. 6 Riot Charges

A federal jury convicted Des Moines, Iowa, resident Douglas Jansen, 41, on all seven charges Friday relating to his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol.

According to the Des Moines Register, the federal jury of 10 men and two women took four hours to reach a verdict in the week-long trial, which depicted Jensen as a "leader of the mob" who believed conspiracy QAnon website posts regarding the 2020 presidential election.

Jansen was one of several hundred supporters of former President Donald Trump that stormed the U.S. Capitol during a joint session of Congress to certify the 2020 election results.

"Doug Jensen would not be stopped on Jan. 6 until he got what he came for: to stop the peaceful transfer of power," prosecutors said in their closing argument. "Jensen was the rioter who would not back down. If it wasn't all recorded from at least 10 different angles, it'd be pretty hard to believe."

A video during the trial showed Jensen chasing U.S. Capitol Police Officer Eugene Goodman up a staircase, The Associated Press reported.

Prosecutors said that Jensen, a construction worker, told Capitol Police officers to "go arrest the vice president" for certifying the voting results.

"The felony charges carry a total statutory maximum of 53 years in prison and potential financial penalties. The misdemeanor offenses carry a combined statutory maximum of one year of incarceration and potential financial penalties," the Register reported that the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

The news outlet noted, however, that defendants usually do not receive the maximum penalties.

Defense attorney Christopher Davis said that Jensen had been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and was a "confused man" during the riot.

"He believed [QAnon]," Davis said in the report. "He honestly believed it. … There's no other explanation for what he did that day."

Jensen's wife, April, cried as the jury read the verdict convicting her husband on all seven charges.

"In my personal opinion, I think Mr. Jensen had a lot of issues, had a lot of problems back when all this occurred," NBC News reported Davis saying following the verdict. "And it's just sad."

According to The AP, 880 people have been federally charged in the Jan. 6 riot, and about 400 have pleaded guilty, while eight have been convicted at trial, with sentences ranging up to 10 years in prison for a man who assaulted officers with a flagpole.

Jenna Ellis to Newsmax: Dems Losing Voters Over ‘Myopic Obsession’ of Trump

The latest Democrat attempt to tarnish former President Donald Trump is going to backfire even bigger than the rest, ushering Democrats to the polls, legal expert Jenna Ellis told Newsmax.

"I don't think it will impact him whatsoever," Ellis told "Saturday Report" about New York Attorney General Letitia James' civil lawsuit this week. "I mean, he has seen that the Democrats have been like a little puppy dogs nipping at his heels while he has been the lion going after … protecting America and standing firm and strong. And that's what they hate about him is that no matter their manipulation tactics, their malicious prosecutions, their lies in the court of public opinion, nothing will stop Donald Trump because he cares about this country."

Even Democrats are tired of their politicians ignoring their interests and using their political office to attack their political opponent, Ellis told host Rita Cosby.

"I don't think this will have any impact at all other than motivating even Democrats to come out and vote Republican in the 2022 midterms and headed into 2024, so that we can get this country back on track.

"Because they're so distracted with their myopic obsession of Donald Trump, they're not serving the American people, so I think this will only fuel him to come back with a vengeance and come back."

James did not bring a criminal case against Trump, only a civil lawsuit to fulfill an unethical campaign promise to sue Trump, Ellis warned.

"She's obviously only looking to achieve a total takedown of Donald Trump, because his name is Donald Trump," Ellis said. "We've seen all of the montages since she announced this lawsuit that showed that she was campaigning in her own election to attorney general — that she specifically targeted President Trump and said that she wanted to take him down.

"And so, with her vast resources, three years of investigations, Donald Trump is the most investigated man in America. This is all that she has. It's pathetic and it shows that the Democrats only want to weaponize political office for political gain. That is not the function of the justice system, nor of the attorney general's office. She should be disbarred over this; and certainly ethics complaints should be brought against her, because this is just using her office for political gain herself."

With the economy crumbling, inflation still near record highs and nuclear war talk abounding, even Democrats are sick of President Joe Biden and Democrat control in Congress.

"The attorney general of the state of New York and all of these other Democrats that are just out to get Trump need to be serving their actual constituents, not just targeting their political opposition. And when we're in an economy that is headed toward recession, when we see the crime that is all over the state of New York and elsewhere in Democratic-led cities, all these things that impact regular Americans, I think everyone is tired of the Democrats just going after Trump rather than serving the American people."

Dr. Oz Releases Health Records to Spotlight Fetterman’s Stroke

MARC LEVY Saturday, 24 September 2022 09:36 AM EDT

Dr. Mehmet Oz, the Republican nominee for Senate in Pennsylvania, released his health records as he maneuvers to keep questions about Democrat rival John Fetterman's recovery from a stroke front and center in the hotly contested campaign.

Dr. Rebecca Kurth in New York City wrote in a four-page letter that she found the 62-year-old heart surgeon-turned-TV celebrity to be in "excellent health" in an annual checkup Thursday.

The letter noted that Oz has a total cholesterol level that is "borderline elevated" but can be addressed by diet, and referenced that in 2010 he had a polyp – a growth that sometimes can become cancerous – removed from his colon. An electrocardiogram — a test that records electrical signals in the heart to detect heart problems — he had Thursday came out normal.

"Your examination is healthy, and the blood tests are favorable," Kurth wrote.

She recommended no medication.

The release of the health records comes as Oz is trying to close a gap in the polls and is increasingly making Fetterman's fitness to serve a central theme in his campaign.

Fetterman, 53, has been silent about releasing medical records or providing access for reporters to question his doctors, now more than four months after he suffered a stroke in May that has had lingering effects on his speech and hearing.

Two editorial boards, of The Washington Post and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, have called for Fetterman to release medical records after his refusal to debate Oz more than once. The Post-Gazette said that should include cognitive tests and making his doctors available to reporters.

It said Oz should release his medical records, too — a request to which Oz quickly agreed.

In a statement, Oz said "voters should have full transparency when it comes to the health status of candidates running for office." Oz, a heart surgeon, is best known for "The Dr. Oz Show," which he hosted on daytime TV for 13 years.

Fetterman's campaign again made no commitment Friday to releasing records or providing access to his doctors.

Rather, he attacked Oz in a statement that revives some of the themes Fetterman has advanced during the campaign — including highlighting long-standing criticism that Oz often promoted questionable products and medical advice on his show.

"In June, I released a letter from my doctor where he clearly stated that I am fit to serve," Fetterman said in the statement. "Dr. Oz built his entire career by lying to people about health. I trust my actual doctors over the opinion of a charlatan who played one on TV."

Fetterman has been receiving speech therapy and the letter from his cardiologist said he will be fine and able to serve in the Senate if he eats healthy foods, takes prescribed medication and exercises.

The race in the presidential battleground to replace retiring Republican Sen. Pat Toomey could help determine control of the closely divided Senate, and Democrats view it as perhaps their best opportunity to pick up a seat out of just a handful of close races nationally.

While it is customary for presidential candidates to release health records, there is no such custom in races for the U.S. Senate. Some U.S. senators have, in the past, released medical records when running for president.

Oz, who has been endorsed by former President Donald Trump, also has questioned Fetterman's truthfulness in disclosing the effects of his stroke.

Fetterman, the state's lieutenant governor, maintains that doctors expect him to make a full recovery from the stroke and that he is quickly improving, cognitively unaffected and maintaining the healthiest habits of his life.

Fetterman suffered the stroke May 13, four days before he easily won his Democrat primary. His victory came hours after he underwent surgery to implant a pacemaker with a defibrillator. Three weeks after the stroke, Fetterman revealed that he had "almost died" and his cardiologist's letter disclosed he had a serious and potentially fatal heart condition.

Fetterman has been campaigning and speaking at public events, but speaks haltingly at times, garbles an occasional word and struggles to hear through background noise and quickly process what he's hearing. He recently agreed to one debate against Oz, to be held Oct. 25, though Oz had pressed for more.

Fetterman will receive closed-captioning at the debate, but the candidates are still bickering about the terms. Oz is pushing to expand it to 90 minutes, from 60 minutes, to account for any delays from closed captioning.

Publicly, top Democrats, including President Joe Biden, have sought to calm party nerves over Fetterman's condition, saying they are confident he is capable of serving.

Still, Fetterman has given reporters limited access to question him directly, doing just a few interviews since the stroke, all through video with closed-captioning to help him with auditory processing.

In a 2016 Senate contest in Illinois, Democrat Tammy Duckworth released years of medical records when there were questions about the fitness of Republican Sen. Mark Kirk, who had suffered a stroke in 2012.

Kirk was still suffering the effects of the stroke four years later, and, like Fetterman, did not provide access to his doctors or medical records. Still, Duckworth said during a debate that she thought Kirk was capable of doing the job but "the problem is he's not doing it."

Late in the race, Kirk's campaign released a one-page letter from a treating physician that said the senator had made a "full cognitive recovery" while still speaking haltingly, dealing with limited use of his left leg and the inability to use his left arm, the Chicago Tribune reported at the time.

Kirk ended up losing his reelection bid.

Rep. Mullin to Newsmax: Dems Pushing Trump to Run With Their Attacks

Rep. Mullin to Newsmax: Dems Pushing Trump to Run With Their Attacks

(Newsmax/"Prime News")

By Sandy Fitzgerald | Friday, 23 September 2022 10:40 PM EDT

Former President Donald Trump shrugs off attacks such as the raid on his Mar-a-Lago home because he's a fighter who is being "pushed" by Democrats into running in 2024, Rep. Markwayne Mullin, the GOP candidate in Oklahoma's race for the U.S. Senate, said on Newsmax Friday night after Trump's rally speech in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Trump, while talking about the moves that have been made against him in recent months, including the raid on his Mar-a-Lago home and New York Attorney General Letitia James' lawsuit, said that "you feel like a fighter left and right, and then you get up and you knock the hell out of them."

Mullin, R-Okla., told Newsmax's "Prime News" that he called Trump the day after the raid to tell him that Oklahoma backs him, and Trump replied, "I'm used to this. It's just another day for me. It's just Tuesday."

Mullin added that Trump's enemies "constantly come after him," and even while Trump hasn't announced he is planning on running again in 2024, he believes now, he will.

"I promise you, he didn't plan on running," said Mullin, noting that he and Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, were the "last two people to meet him in the White House. And I asked him and he says 'absolutely not. I've already won two elections. I'm not. I have no intentions of running again.'"

He said he believes that is why the Trumps left for Florida; but now, the Democrats have "pushed him into it."

"If you keep poking the bear, eventually he's going to come back and he's not one to back down," said Mullin. "I don't know why the Democrats can't figure this out. You continue to push him he's gonna come at you stronger and harder and with more vigor than he ever has, and he is energetic and rested right now, and he's fully focused."

Meanwhile, in coverage after Trump's rally, Newsmax political analyst Mark Halperin, while discussing the speech, commented that the former president is a big draw for GOP candidates because he gets the focus and the crowds with his words and endorsements.

Washington Times commentary editor Kelly Sadler, also on the post-rally show, pointed out that the GOP base "appreciates" that Trump will fight back, even with the establishment attacking him with lawsuits and criminal investigations.

"They see that there is a dual sort of an inequity injustice, and the Democrats really just want to take him out and not let him run again," she said.

But Trump, she added, has just launched a new super PAC that will fund money into senatorial campaigns and has a $100 million war chest.

"He's just like, you're not going to take me out of this political equation," said Sadler. "I'm going to fight. I'm going to be there for you, and I think that is what allures a lot of the Republican base."
